Highlights
  • Panama City - This tour begins with hotel pickups starting at 6:10am. I know it sounds crazy to get up so early on your vacation, but you will thank me for it later. Starting this early we can beat the crowds and see more wildlife in cooler temperatures.
  • Panama Canal - We will ride along the waters of the Panama Canal right next to the ships passing through on their way to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Our destination is Gatun Lake, where we will cruise around islands created during the canal construction and see the abundant wildlife on its shores.
  • Lake Gatun - The second-largest artificial lake on the continent, the intact rainforest that surround the lake are one of the few accessible areas on the planet where a diverse flora and fauna endemic to Central America can be observed in its natural habitat.
  • Agua Clara Locks - We will visit the Agua Clara Visitor Center to see the new expansion locks working up close.

Located on the west side of the brand new Agua Clara Locks, the Agua Clara Visitor Center allows you to observe transiting vessels from a scenic lookout point and learn first hand about the various operations of the Panama Canal, the history of its construction, its participation in the world markets, and the importance of its watershed. An observational deck lets you watch the ships pass through the Agua Clara Locks on their way to the Pacific or Atlantic oceans.

  • Fort San Lorenzo - The next stop will be a visit to San Lorenzo National Park where you will visit a remote rainforest full of flora and fauna, followed by a freshly made picnic lunch and a tour Fort San Lorenzo. A 400 year old Spanish fort on a scenic cliff overlooking the Caribbean, here you will recount the many attacks by pirates and privateers that happened at one of the most historically important places in Panama.

The Fort of San Lorenzo, located on an 80 foot (25m) cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea at the estuary of the Chagres River, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 along with the fortifications of the city of Portobelo. It was part of the defensive system for the transatlantic trade of the Spanish Crown, and is a fine example of military architecture of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The Fort of San Lorenzo is one of the oldest fortresses in Spanish America. Here you will recount the many attacks by pirates and privateers that happened at one of the most historically important places in Panama.

Perfect introduction to Panama! - The most stress-free tour I have ever booked! Guide Paola had an encyclopaedic knowledge about Panamanian history, flora and fauna. I enjoyed seeing the canal, monkeys, iguana, capybara and various insect species. The company itself provided clear pickup instructions (even the make and model of the vehicle) which was greatly appreciated.

Great one day immersion of Panama - Great experience to visit not only the locks, but to travel in the waterways that connect both ends. The environment was surprising and the wildlife very cool. Our guide, John, was incredibly knowledgeable about the country, the history of conquests and the canal itself. We passed through Panama for this one full day adventure and it did not disappointZ

Panama Ocean to Ocean tour - Out tour guide Paola picked us at the hotel on time and the tour started earlier than scheduled. Paola was simply superb, highly energetic and extremely knowledgeable of Panamanian history and the rain forest. She provided in depth details of the country's history with often showing relevant pictures on her tablet. We thoroughly enjoyed the rain forest tour on the speed boat and took some rare pictures of animals and birds. She then took us to Aqua Clara locks and explained the whole process of how ships move from ocean to ocean on both directions. She even had quiz questions for the children on the bus and engaged everyone on the tour bus with activities. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Panama and would even sugegst that you ask Paola to be your guide.

Highly recommended tour. - Excellent tour. You see a lot in so little time. Very well organised. John, our guide was extremely knowledgeable. It is an early start but worth it as you beat the crowds. We booked through Viator. Although it stated the start time as 7 am, pick up is around 6 am. It is a long time before lunch, so take some snacks, especially if, like us you are unable to have breakfast at the hotel. Bathrooms are not available for about 3 hours after pick -up, so plan accordingly. The visit to the Panama Canal was incredible and the boat ride was beautiful. Lunch was delicious. About 11 people in our group. Highly recommended tour.

Good trip - Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Lunch was good. I was expecting a little of boating. And to see locks on Caribbean side. A lot of history was given. I was very pleased with that.
