Highlights
  • Musee d’Orsay - Paris’ other museum, the Musée d’Orsay, is the perfect complement to the Louvre. With your expert guide, begin your tour through this converted Beaux-Arts train station with skip-the-line admission.

Inside, explore the artistic movements that led up to Impressionism and its colorful works. See Manet’s scandalous Luncheon on the Grass and Renoir’s Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette. Discuss with your guide the artists who preceded the Impressionists, like Millet and ‘the Gleaners,’ as well as those who followed, such as Post-Impressionist artist Van Gogh, whose Bedroom in Arles is on display. And, of course, check out works by the father of Impressionism himself, Claude Monet, including his famous poppies.

Learn about the art evolution and personalities that went into creating the Impressionist movement, and understand why these seemingly simple works were so revolutionary at the time.

By the end of your tour, you’ll have learned about techniques used by the artists, seen both the highlights and lesser-known gems of the Orsay, and admired the beautiful architecture of the museum itself.

Great tour at Musee D'Orsay with Hugo - I had a great tour this afternoon with Hugo at the Musee D'Orsay. Hugo did a great job making the art come alive for us by explaining the historical context behind the pieces and the relationship between the different artistic periods and pieces. He also brought a genuine enthusiasm and passion for the artwork that really made it come alive for us. Great tour.

A Must-Do Tour of the Musee D'Orsay! - Achille was our tour guide and he was awesome! This is a great way, especially for first-time visitors, to tour the museum efficiently. Achille was so knowledgeable, delightful and led us through the museum expertly. He explained the Impressionist movement so well and we touched on so many great works of art in the 2 1/2-3 hrs tour. It is worth every penny!

Excellent tour! - We had a wonderful combined tour of the Orsay Museum and Montmartre from Daniel. This was a great tour to take because you first get to see the art works, and then Daniel our guide took us on the Metro to see the neighborhood the artists lived. Daniel had great knowledge of French history and culture. Daniel also gave us some great restaurant recommendations in the Montmarte neighborhood.

Exceptional Guide on a Musee d'Orsay Tour - We visited Musee d'Orsay last Friday on our 20th Anniversary trip. I have never written a review in my life, but I loved this tour so much that I wanted to give the credit due to our amazing tour guide Eduardo. From start to finish Eduardo had excitement and a masterful understanding of everything we saw. His way of explaining the Impressionist Movement, the artists and techniques and his energy and enthusiasm for it made us want to hear more and more about it. We are not big art museum people, but we were all in because of Eduardo. I highly recommend Babylon Tours and if you can make a tour guide request, I recommend you do.

Excellent tour! - Daniel our guide gave us an excellent combination tour of the Orsay Museum and Montmartre. Doing the combination tour worked out great as we first saw the Impressionist art, and then Daniel took us to the Montmartre neighborhood where the artists lived. Daniel had a terrific knowledge of French history and culture. He recommended some great Montmartre restaurants. My advice is to dine in Montmartre whenever possible rather than in the more touristy Paris city center.
