Great tour! - We were looking forward to this tour! Ian is a great tour guide. Unfortunately we had fog and rain throughout the whole day but we were still able to cover all the stops. Ian is knowledgeable, respectful and accommodating. Overall great tour and highly recommended!

Great Day Tour of some Nova Scotian Highlights - The tour was run very well. Ian was our tour guide - he always had things to say about everywhere we went, and spoke a lot about where we were, and what there's to see and learn about Nova Scotia. The six passenger in a van concept is nice, as we feel like a close friendly group for the day, and everyone gets to contribute. We got to see lots of highlights - Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, Luneburg, Wolfville and various other points along the ways. Great balance and variety of attractions. Only a few critical pieces (though still giving the tour 5/5): - Peggy's Cove is done first thing in the morning (so we're there after 10am). It was very foggy when we were there, and fog is common in the mornings. - We only have 90 minutes in Lunenburg, which is meant to be a lunch and explore stop. There are plenty of authentic/local places to dine, but if eating at a restaurant (by the time you get a table, wait for food, etc.), your time to explore Lunenburg is very limited. I personally ate lunch at Subway to have more time to explore. Overall though - definitely a recommended tour/company to consider. Thank you Ian (also to Kate for sharing important information ahead of time).

A Delightful Day Tour with Alternative Routes in Halifax - My partner and I had a wonderful experience with Andrew from Alternative Routes on our first day in Halifax. We started our day by visiting the famous Peggy's Cove, followed by a stop at a smaller beach near Queensland Beach to avoid the crowd. Despite only getting four hours of sleep due to long-distance travel, Andrew's humorous storytelling kept us awake and engaged. Our second stop was the Lunenburg Historic District. We enjoyed a relaxing stroll around the area, took a picture with the Bluenose II, and checked out the shipyard where the Bluenose I was built. Afterward, we found a restaurant along the main street called 'The Savvy Sailor', which was one of Andrew's recommendations. The Lobster Club sandwich was definitely our favourite. After a few more stops, we concluded our trip at a vineyard. While we didn't have a wine tasting, we had a lovely walk around the area and admired the views. Andrew also helped us take a Polaroid picture, which is part of Alternative Routes' tradition. He said they take one picture after each day tour and let people write down where they are from and their wishes, then stick it on the headliner. Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with fascinating stories and history. I highly recommend booking a day tour with Alternative Routes.

Andrew was an awesome guide to a day in Nova Scotia! - What a perfect daytrip! As a solo traveler, this was a perfect way to see a lot of sights outside of Halifax while enjoying the view by letting someone else drive. Andrew was an awesome guide - friendly, welcoming, fun, and full of information without making you feel like you were in a lecture. While structured to get from place to place, the tour gave us free time in several locations to customize our day. I'd recommend for anyone visiting the area, especially if it's your first time or you're on a short holiday!

A fun, social day of exploration - A great tour guide that explained everything, kept us entertained and gave us options. My husband loved Peggy’s Cove and the Wooden Factory tour.. There is no way possible to do all the wonderful places we visited without this tour. We are so very thankful and would recommend this to anyone visiting Halifax.
