Highlights
  • Lake Titicaca - This tour begins between 6:00-7:00 am with a transfer from your Puno City Center hotel to the port. Then by motor boat (35 feet long with a covered section in case of rain or cold weather, 25 individual seats) we visit the Uros floating Islands. Stepping on them feels very much like a water bed (but it is quite safe). We see the houses, the islands and meet its friendly inhabitants. Uros people are descendants of one of the oldest South American groups. Rides on traditional reed boats can be arranged. In the mornings these islands can be crowded. We visit two of the 60 islands before continuing on to Taquile Island.
  • Taquile Island - After a relaxed navigation of an extra 2 1/2 hours, getting the chance to enjoy the spectacular views offered by Lake Titicaca, we get to Taquile island. There, lives a unique community. A long path gradually ascending (45 min. hike approx.) will take us to the village, the views are beautiful. Visit the communal cooperative where you will find handicraft textiles of high quality. The views are magnificent. At 2:30 pm approx. we will depart back to Puno City (3 hours return journey). At 5.30 pm we arrive to Puno. On arrival to Puno we will transfer you to your Puno hotel.

Puno Taxi Services - I recently went to Puno and used Umberto Taxi service to go to the Amara Muru & Juliaca Airport. I was a solo traveler and the driver was very courteous and made me feel safe even though I didn't speak the language. I will continue to use their service when I go to this place in the future. If you are interested, please contact Umberto +51-914 280343

Culturally amazing and memorable! - Fousto was a fantastic tour guide! This was the best way to see a lot of the lake in one day - the more colorful boats would take way too long, so we definitely appreciated this tour with how huge this lake is! Definitely consider this as an epic option!

the best - I love nature, and although it was not the most that I expected, this place made me feel like a unique place to enjoy its beautiful landscape

Perfect day - The tour didn’t pick up from our hotel as we stayed out of the city but for a small fee they picked us up anyway. They were easy to contact and happy to help leading up to the trip. The day was perfect! Boat was so comfortable and clean with access to a toilet. Once it got hit we were able to sit on top. Food served was delicious and cooked by locals. Views were beautiful.

We learned a lot about Titicaca and it's people - Taquille was great and we learned a lot about life of people living there and on Uros. I can only recommend.

Titicaca - Touristy but culturally interesting - The trip was cool. The start was strange as we had to be there very early but then sat around for almost an hour doing nothing (which sucks at 6 am in the morning). The trip itself was nice - The culture is very interesting to see, but be aware that it is a very touristy place with many weird things to spend your money on. But worth for the cultural experience.

Not great, but no regrets - The tour was very interesting. Boat was comfortable. And the tour of the islands was informative. Lunch with a local family/restaurant was very good - we even got a little bonus time to learn about their farming activities. Be aware - the walk around the island is steep - there were some older people in our group that were having a lot of trouble. Negatives: Bathroom situation was atrocious - no toilet paper or running water on the boat - and had to pay to use toilet on the islands. Pickup was scheduled at 6:40 - but they didn't come until 7:15, and then we sat on the boat for another 30 minutes before finally leaving.

Good value recommend - Lunch with family was enjoyable. The time on the reed islands where the people lived was educational. The boat was comfortable. The scenery was spectacular. Timing was great because the second biggest festival in South America is held at this time. Due to festival pick up was a little late, not operators fault.

It felt like a scam - Lake Titicaca is not what it’s being advertised as, it felt like everything was set up to get more money from tourist. Many lies was told on the trip, the optional Reed boats was not optional you had to pay to continue the trip. We where also told by the “mayor” that they didn’t want to make children ask for money which is why they sold home make souvenirs, but as soon as we got on the boat a little girl not older then 7 years old started dancing and singing reluctantly to then ask for money. The Reed boats themselves were also fake, they use a speed boat to drag them but try to hide them so you don’t notice. On the island itself they sell souvenirs as mentioned but after a demonstration of how the islands flout we stepped into a house where they had a shop, the lady who owned the shop asked us to go into the house and we did but after everyone got in she sat in-front of the door blocking the exit, only when somebody decided to buy something she let everyone out. On the second island there is nothing to see or do, it’s a normal island with normal houses, you get your lunch in a normal restaurant and then go back to the boat where you have a 2 hour journey until you get back to Puno. Don’t wast your time going all the way to Puno for this trip, it will only disappoint you if you want an authentic experience and not just get some pictures for Instagram
