There Apollo, the god of light, delivered his oracles through his priestess, Pythia. The Greeks addressed Apollo in every important moment of their history; they showed their gratitude by erecting great monuments along the Sacred Way heading to the god’s temple. The Christians seized the operation of the sanctuary in the 4th c. AD.
