Highlights
  • Khao Yai National Park - Khao Yai, with its rich flora and fauna, is the perfect destinations for nature lovers.
There are many animals inhabiting the national park including elephants, tigers, monkeys, bears, deer and squirrels. There are also various types of snakes like pythons, spiders, rodents and insects, so it is best advised to wear long sleeved clothing. In addition, the park has more than 400 species of birds.
We take one of the trekking trails in the park and walk through the nature while enjoying the beautiful mountainous landscape.
Khao Yai National Park is one of the best places in Thailand to see Asian elephants in the wild and many visitors come to catch a glimpse of the park’s wild elephant population, grazing in their natural habitat. Keep in mind, however, that it cannot be guaranteed that you will see wild elephants in the park during your day trip.

The duration includes travelling time between Bangkok and Khao Yai v.v.

  • Haew Suwat Waterfall - There are several waterfalls throughout the national park offering incredible scenery and photo opportunities.
The most well-known waterfall in Khao Yai National Park is Haew Suwat. It is famous for being the location for Leonardo DiCaprio’s waterfall dive in the movie ‘The Beach’ back in 2000.
  • Haew Narok Waterfall - Haew Narok is the highest falls in Khao Yai National Park, and the park’s star attraction, cascading over three tiers with the final level gushing 80 metres below into a deep pool. However, only the first level is open to the public, as the other levels are steep and dangerous. There’s a hillside viewpoint where you can clearly watch and take photos of the waterfall. Especially at the height of the rainy season, the Haew Narok Waterfall is a truly breathtaking sight.

Not easy but exciting - Paul is a very aspiring guide. He shared his aspiration and experience with us, leading us through the ups and downs, showing us the tough roads ahead yet giving us a hand when needed. It was real lucky to be able to see an elephant. Worth it!

Long day. Comfortable van. Quick hike but did see wild elephants. - Long day. 12 hours. Very comfortable mini van journey with breaks. Park lovely and so were waterfalls. The 4km hike was quick due to short timescales . The guide sped on ahead leaving us to try and catch up and took no time to explain anything. Not for those who don’t want a hike up, down and over obstacles. We didn’t really get time to appreciate it however the day was completed with meeting a group of wild elephants as we were heading out if the park. This really was the highlight of the day.

Challenging trek but can be done - The waterfall was amazing. The trek was not what I expect. Pretty challenging for a sixty four year old like me but Surin our guide cut a bamboo to make a trekking pole which certainly helps to make the trek easier. I drop my glasses when it was caught by a overhanging vine but she went back about 100m back to help search for it. Fortunately it was found. Mai our driver is a very experienced and safe driver. Not easy to be patient with the notorious jams in bangkok and yet she is ever so helpful and smiling. Overall a very interesting visit to Khao Yai National Park.

Beautiful jungle but expensive for what you get - I love trekking and being in nature - and the Thai jungle did not disappoint. But this tour is a bit expensive for what it is. I loved the walk, seeing the massive waterfalls and our guide was lovely. But for the price you are really only paying them to take you there. They drive you to two waterfalls and then take you on an hour trek. Lunch you buy there and its cheap (like 200 baht for two people). I think it either needs to be longer - like an extra two hour walk, with a snack in the afternoon and an earlier start time out of BKK. Or like half the price. They also did not drop us off when it was raining despite our hotel only being a ten minute walk away. We were happy to walk in the downpour but it was a bit meh considering the cost. Compared to what you get on the islands where you can pay almost half and get pick up drop off lunch and a day of stuff to do this seemed a bit expensive. I would recommend if you are wanting to trek there you do it with a more local company. If you just want to see the jungle quickly and money isn't an issue it's an ok way to go.
