Pompeii - The place where we had to pick up our tickets was not at the same gate we were dropped off at by the cruise lines, but a very helpful guide and 10 minute walk and we found the place to get our tickets, right next to another gate. The staff was friendly and helpful with the audioguides. The shop was also next to a wonderful bakery, where we indulged in some delicious pastries. I would recommend this for anyone looking to explore Pompeii on their own.

Good but not perfect for our situation. - We did this tour after arriving in Pompeii via a shore excursion from an NCL cruise ship. The bus parking where they drop you off is about a 15 min walk to the ticket exchange and audio pickup spot. This ate into the limited time we had (about 3 hrs) to explore Pompeii and you also have to allow time to walk back at the end to return the audio devices. There is an entrance gate to Pompeii (not the main gate) about 5 min from this spot and we were able to enter without a wait so perhaps timewise it was awash. The audio was informative but was difficult at times to match up with the map we were given. Overall, we enjoyed seeing Pompeii but with limited time (due to having to be back at the excursion bus) this may not have been the best choice. If we knew more about the area before arriving it would have been fine, but having no idea where we would be dropped off and where the exchange office was in relation to that, made it a bit stressful and seemed inconvenient. If your transportation allowed you to be dropped off at the ticket exchange point and you had 4-5 hours to explore Pompeii, this would have been a great option.

Poor communication - Poor communication from the company. Over 24 hours to get a response. When we reached the meeting point which was the company location they had many employees which didn’t make sense why any of them could not give us a response with our questions until the day of the tour.

Terrible - We pre booked these tickets for a specific day. We arrived to find it was a public holiday and that nobody knew where the pickup place was to even get tickets/headset. Would not recommend, book direct with Pompeii not sub contracts from Viator........very very disappointed 😕

Big Cheats and Fraudsters - Please do NOT use this service. If you take the train to the Pompei Scavi station, the address to pick up the entry tickets is more than a kilometer away. Once you go there , there is no one to receive you. I tried sending messages via the viator app but no response. Used Whatsapp to connect to viator support, they responded and tried to contact the tour operator, no response. They asked me to wait till the operator responds. After an hour, I went to the Pompei entrance and bought fresh tickets. It was an absolute waste of money with Viator ticket. I lost $96 , family tickets as the operator was not available and viator support could not get hold of operator. Viator support agreed to refund but a day later did a volte face and asked me to connect with the operator. We had already left Italy by then.such pathetic customer service , despite repeated mails, viator response has been it's not their problem and passed the buck to the tour operator. Please don't waste your hard earned money on these cheats.
