Great driver/tour guide - Mario - Our driver/tour guide was Mario and he was great. Entertaining, knowledgeable, and fun. Definitely recommend Mario. He picked us up at the dock and we went to Positano, Sorento and Pompeii. In Pompeii he had a great guide take us on a private 2-hour tour of Pompeii, then picked us up and back to our cruise ship.

What a day, what a guide! - A great way to take in the magic from three important places in one day. Our driver, Francesco, was knowledgeable, fun and really knew how to escort the trip, give us our own time and space and expertly guide and rejoin us throughout the day. At one point, in spite of my smartphone malfunction, he did not give up on us and sought us out in a the somewhat chaotic exit area from Pompeii, Grazie Francesco!

A Great Driver Who Knows the Amalfi Coast. - Our travel schedule, sadly, didn't have enough time for a few days on the Amalfi Coast, so we opted to make this one day private trip from Rome to see at least some of what we were missing. The high-speed Frecciarossa got us to Naples in just over an hour, where Francecso was waiting for us. He was great, giving us plenty of history and local information about Positano, Sorrento, and Pompeii. We were able to spend some time sightseeing in each of them. Fortunately, we were able to see it outside the heavy tourist season, and having Francesco ready to pick us up at each stop made it as stress-free as possible. It's also notable that we were in a very roomy, clean and comfortable vehicle that was sharing narrow lanes on well-traveled, winding roads. As someone who does a lot of driving, I was happy to have Francesco at the wheel. If I had to give one suggestion, it would be to do your homework on Pompeii, perhaps even having a tour guide to help explore the ruins would be worthwhile. It's a much bigger task than we were prepared for.

Great driver - Francesco was our driver and I would highly recommend him! He was friendly and warm and gave us great information when asked! I also appreciated just roaming around on our own and he gave us plenty of town in both Sorrento and Pompeii! Unfortunately, it was off season Positano, so we just drove through it and took great panoramic pics of the area!

Best tour and tour guide! - Giovanni was amazing!! He took care of us very well, gave us the freedom to customize our tour which was great!! He made sure we got back to our ship in time! I would definately use him again!!

Great day - Bruno was great! We had a great day, Pompeii was interesting, would have been better with a guide, the audio version doesn’t do it justice and can be a little confusing. We went went to a very nice local restaurant in Sorrento and then spent a little time walking the streets. My only wish was we had more time in Sorrento to look around.

Well taken care of! Loved it! - This was a special day - the last day of our cruise to celebrate our 9th anniversary! I chose this tour because I wanted my husband to see Pompeii and Sorrento since I had seen them a few years before with my daughter and he loves history. The excursion on our ship was sold out, so we created our own with the private car in order to make sure we had the flexibility to be back on the ship on time. It really wasn’t that much more expensive than the ship’s excursion and we had a private tour! Also, for us, there’s nothing like the stress of worrying about the ship leaving you, so it was worth the extra money to have the private car with flexibility and not having to wait in others. I emailed a few days before to see where to meet and they sent a picture of the location in Naples Port. Francis the tour guide had a sign with my name on it waiting in the exact location, so it was very easy to find him! Our driver’s name was also Francis. These two were wonderful! We had a minivan all to ourselves! We talked about what we wanted to do first and headed to Pompeii as they were just opening. Francis has perfect English and we enjoyed learning a lot about Italy and Vesuvius and their tomatoes and lemons on the way. He also offered to get us a guide for Pompeii, but we declined. (It was a good idea though because we heard a lot of useful information from guides once we entered- information that is not on the information plaques inside. So get a guide if you go!) Once there, Francis took us up to the gate and made sure the tickets I purchased online from the Italian website worked. Since Pompeii was just opening, there were no crowds and it was great! We spent two hours there and Francis met us at the meeting location right on time. We then talked about the stop in Positano. It is an hour drive to stop for 15 minutes and I’d been there before, so I asked to skip that. The two Francises discussed timing and traffic in Italian for a little while and we made sure they knew we wanted to be back on the ship a half hour before we needed to so we wouldn’t be stressed out. They agreed we could skip Positano and have a little more time in Sorrento. We appreciated their flexibility!! We stopped along the way for a few photos before arriving in Sorrento. Francis the driver was an expert in that crazy traffic and we always felt very safe!! Francis the tour guide answered every question we had and it was lovely to get to know him! He is engaging, knowledgeable, bright, and outgoing and so easy to understand his English! Sorrento was beautiful, we enjoyed shopping and had a delicious lunch. They picked us up right on time in the meeting spot and got us back to the ship exactly a half hour before we needed to be on board!! We were not stressing at all and felt very comfortable and taken care of the whole day! A wonderful end to s fabulous trip!! Thank you so much to our two Francises!!! We loved our day with you!

Naples and beyond - We had a great time visiting the Amalfi coast with all the hills and narrow roads. In Sorrento we only had time to walk the Main Street and get an ice cream, but that was enough to give us a taste of the beautiful place. As for Pompeii, our 2 hours fell short of being any good. When we planned a route to see the best parts on a map we had no idea how vast the site was and how small the map was. You definitely need at least a day to wander, but we saw it and got a taster, which was great. Overall for a taste of the highlights of Naples and its surrounds, it was a super tour and our guide was considerate and knowledgeable.

Did they think we wouldn't notice the tourguide didn't speak English? - I was quite disappointed with the company's and our guide's lack of professionalism. I wrote an email addressing this and received no response. Our guide was passionate but barely spoke English and did not seem trained, which was contrary to what I had read in all the great reviews. We were more stressed trying to understand him, and he couldn't answer any of my questions because he didn't understand what I was saying. Had we known this would happen, we would have booked a cab ride, not a private tour that ended up being way below our expectations. As a transportation method, I recommend it, but if I come back, I would rather spend more time at Positano or Amalfi enjoying food and drinks. Most restaurants with nice cliff views only allow seating for dining, and we didn't have enough time for that. The chauffeur Giovanni was excellent. He even pointed out important buildings and scenic spots that our guide missed.
