A scenic 10 minute water taxi ride across the harbour to Macandrew Bay where you will board our shuttle van for a 10 minute ride up the hill to the famous Larnach Castle.
This service includes your entry ticket to the castle and gardens. You have an hour to an hour and a half to explore. We then pick you up in the van for the ride back down to the harbour, and your water taxi ride into Dunedin or back to Port Chalmers

For a quick, enjoyable and interesting approach to view New Zealand’s sole castle, try our water taxi service. Take an enchanting and safe water taxi ride across the lovely Otago Harbour towards Macandrew Bay, a quaint seaside hamlet located on the Otago Peninsula. From there, you can hop into a luxury van for a picturesque drive uphill to the castle. The cost of entry to both the castle and its gardens is included in your fare. Spend around ninety minutes delving into the beauty of the castle and its grounds before returning to the harbour. The van will take you back to Macandrew bay for your second water taxi ride, which will take you either back into the city or to Port.
- Our guide is available for the transport and entry to the Castle only. The tour of the castle and gardens is self guided.
- Departure point depends on time of departure - 8.30 am - 10.30 depart Back Beach, Port Chalmers. 11.00 am and later depart from Steamer Basin, Dunedin city.
