Highlights
  • R. Dr. Coelho de Carvalho 8 - The Fort of São João do Arade, sometimes referred to as the Castle of Arade, is a medieval fortification. The first fortification on the site consisted of a watch tower erected in the reign of King John II of Portugal. Later, following the settlement of Ferragudo (around 1520), it is believed that the castle was encircled by a defensive wall (built on the rudimentary walls of the older walls).
The origins of the Fort of Arade date back to the Philippine Dynasty, to defend the coast of the peninsula from attacks by pirates and privateers in service to the Crowns of northern Europe.

It’s fun and makes sense environmentally - We spent some time on the internet trying to choose the right Bost trip from the very many being offered. We were a bit frustrated, but then we asked the owners of the vacation house we are renting and they recommended SunBoots. We checked the website and we’re pleased with the environmental concept and the smaller boat size. So we booked the tour and are really happy we did. The crew was easy going and friendly, explained the sights and answered our questions. We really liked having a quiet electric powered boat, very relaxing. And afte r seeing all the sights we even had a chance to swim out in the ocean. It’s an all star experience we would recommend highly.

A must do!! - We’re on a month long trip in Europe and this is one of the absolute Best experiences we’ve had. The boat was super comfortable (great with options for sun or shade), the crew was amazing and super informative!! The caves and coast were breath taking. Would definitely pick this tour over others.

Caramaran Cruise - This was a very relaxing, wonderful catamaran cruise. The boat has plenty of room to walk around while also giving us plenty of shady seats out of the sun. I definitely recommend this to families and friends.

Great time with family - This was such a great choice for our family. The boat ride was very relaxing, we took in all the great views, the staff was wonderful with our children and so kind. I would recommend this boat ride for anyone with children and for people who want a more relaxing experience but still want to experience the caves and and the coast line. Seeing the coastline from a boat is a must.

Excellent experience - Captain and his mate Philip were excellent hosts, very attentive and helpful, especially for my mum who is infirm, they were very funny and explained a lot of the things we saw on out trip, added bonus was not adding to pollution with the solar boat.

Relaxed coastline and cave tour - The fairly slow moving electric catamaran gave great opportunity to look at the amazing coastline. The number of caves we visited was much more than expected, and not a quick in-out as the speedboats did. Nice captain and assistant pointing out highlights and explaining along the route.
