Fantastic fun experience! - The pirate ship added an extra dimension and a lot of atmosphere to this trip. The tour guide told his story with a lot of humor and we had a lot of laughs at him. The fact that we could actually enter the caves with small boats was amazing, we were speechless by the beauty and intrigued by the stories that went with it. It was fantastic and definitely recommended to take a pirate ship to the most beautiful caves in Portugal.

Awesome experience - Fabulous time had on an amazing ship. She was so impressive as she sailed towards the pick-up point, it took my breath away knowing I would be boarding her. I've done the Benagil caves before on a small speedboat and thought it would be interesting to have an experience on the pirate ship. I wasn't disappointed at all. The tour guide was impressively knowledgeable and took special care of those who lost their sea legs during the journey. If you're looking for a tour which is distinctly unique, this is definitely the one for you, I absolutely loved it! Well done Santa Bernarda, you're a definite recommend from me.

It's worth it, even if there are waves - A highly advisable experience. The views from the boat are spectacular. The day we took the excursion there were quite a few waves so the coast guard prohibited entry to the caves. At the beginning of the trip the crew offered to change the day reservation, get the money back or do the excursion but without entering the caves. We chose to take the excursion and it was 100% worth it. The crew is very attentive at all times. A 10!

A great time with the family - A really fun time with the family! We saw off-board style boats passing near us where people were sitting and couldn't move. There you can freely go on the boat (except at the top which is not authorized for children for safety reasons). We were with a stroller and we were able to leave it open so that baby could sleep. We didn't get sick, the sea was very calm. Thank you very much to Nanny who was really adorable with our little girl and made her experience unforgettable and her comments were very complete. Small vests for babies during the cave visit were distributed. Indeed, no disguise (except when we went to the cave where the pilot put on a Jack Sparow wig) but with imagination it can be done. We do not regret choosing this experience.

Original visit - Much more original than the simple boat with very friendly pirate sailors, who entertain everyone. On the other hand, the Benagil cave should be avoided in August, the canoes and kayaks were swarming, it was terrible.

An experience to remember - Spectacular, the crew is super attentive to the children. We couldn't go down into the caves due to the number of people but it was still worth it. They were able to bathe by jumping from the pirate ship. The only thing I recommend taking something for those who get dizzy.

Nice to do! - Super fun tour, enthusiastic crew. We had the morning trip of 3 hours in total. Nice pirate boat with two small boats that take you into the caves.

Highly recommended for families - We loved the pirate ship to the Benagil caves!! It was me and my 7 yesr old. The sailing was smooth, the boat comfortable. You can move around easily, get a drink, go to the toilet. The people next to us had a 2 year old and they felt comfy too. After about an hour you get to the caves. You put your life jacket on and get off into smaller wooden boats (petrol engine type). I am slightly nervous of small boats but it was super chilled and comfy. The caves were amazing, busy with other boats but that didn't bother us as it was all very friendly - other boats waving to us etc. Spend about half an hour going in and out of the caves including the famous Benagil. The coastline is stunning and lots of interesting facts. Then back on the boat, wait for the other boats to return and back to Portimao (the port is very easy to find using sat nav by the way). The staff were fantastic! Lots of funny moments where the pirates were shooting water pistols and hanging off the boat edge pretending to be drunk! My only regret is that I didn't take some cash to tip the excellent staff. 10/10 - highly recommended.

a little disappointing - I mentioned it to my son that at the end of the holiday we were going to take a ride on the pirate boat but once we got there there was only a little pirate flag waving on the bow. contrary to what I read elsewhere, zero entertainment, zero staff dressed as pirates, zero pirate atmosphere, just them occasionally calling each other pirates. for an adult obviously nothing changes but if you have children don't expect anything in this sense. Having said this, the boat is nothing more than an old fishing vessel refitted into a caravel in which the sails are mainly scenic as they are probably blocked for safety reasons, therefore at least for us it is impossible to sail, even with a favorable wind. I'm sorry because the staff on board were really kind and nice, with the exception of the captain's wife who treated people like they don't even treat pigs that go to the slaughterhouse.
