Highlights
  • Douro River - Most of the tour has the Douro river as the scenic scenary through the day. The wineries that are visited offer incredible views to the river.
  • Peso Da Regua - Whenever possible we stop at the city of Peso da Régua, an historical city of the Douro Valley associated with the commerce of wine. Here we provide our guests a brief explanation about the city and allow some free time for a coffee and pictures.
  • Quinta do Tedo - Quinta do Tedo is one of the 3 wineries visited on our tour. In this visit you will learn about the wine making process of Quinta do Tedo with a local guide. It includes a guided wine tasting session where you will be explained about the different wines to be tasted.
  • The Douro Valley - In the heart of the Douro Valley you will have the chance to visit Pinhão, a little village known for it’s historical railway station. In the past Pinhão used to be an important place for commerce and transport of the wine from Douro to Porto. The wine was first commercialized and next shipped in the traditional Rabelo boat to remain aging in Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river in Porto.
  • Pinhao Railway Station - As part of the visit to Pinhão we stop for a few minutes at the 19th century railway station of Pinhão. The highlight are the 24 panels of blue and withe tiles representing typical images of the culture of Douro Valley.
  • Quinta da Roeda - Quinta da Roêda has an incredible selection of Port. At the visit to Quinta da Roêda, you will have a special guided wine tasting, where you will have the chance to try some unique selected wines according to your own preferences.
  • Quinta do Beijo - To complete the tour you will visit Quinta do Beijo before coming back to Porto. This is a small local winerie with very good wines that can not be bought in the city. The visit will probably be done by the owner of the property while he tells you more about the production and the flavours of it’s wines.
  • D’Origem - Alternatively to Quinta do Beijo or Quinta do Tedo we may sometimes visit D’Origem a small interesting winery located in Casal de Loivos, a village on top of the hill that offers the most incredible view over the Douro Valley. At D’Origem, more than just tasting DOC Douro wines, you can also visit a small olive oil museum that functioned until 2001, allowing you to know more about the traditional way of making olive oil.
  • Porto - We return to Porto from Douro Valley close to 6:00 PM, where our guide will leave you at your selected drop off point.

Truly spectacular!! - Simply spectacular! I had already taken two cruises on the Douro, but this Road Trip, in a van for 8 people, was really fabulous! I visited 3 wine producers (which one is the most beautiful?!…); Quinta do Tedo, Quinta do Bomfim, and Quinta D’Origem. It was a great option to choose small Producers, as the Visits were very pleasant, with few people. For those who have never taken a cruise on the Douro, you can visit just two wineries, and in Pinhão, take a short 1-hour cruise. Lunch was at the Ponto Grande restaurant, in Pinhão; delicious food, and ultra fast and friendly service. It should be noted, with complete justice, that our Guide, Ricardo, was the formula for the success of our Visit; extremely professional, but at the same time, incredibly friendly, and super easy-going! I recommend Oporto Road Tours, and in what way!!… Many congratulations!!…, and thank you for a simply wonderful day!

The best way to see Douro Valley! - We had the best time on this day trip out to Douro Valley. It truly is a small group tour, there were 8 of us plus our tour guide, Pedro, who made the day so much more fun! Pick up was very easy and straightforward, then we were off to a beautiful little town, Amarante, for our first pit stop at a small cafe for wine, coffees, or pastries. Pedro was very knowledgeable and on the drive he talked to us all about Douro valley, port and answered any questions we had. First vineyard was Quinta do Tedo where we had a tour first with another 6-8 people or so. Then we had our tasting in a private room, and also tried some olive oil as well. Beautiful views here. Next stop was lunch at a local spot a short drive away, delicious food, more wine and dessert too! Everyone else on our tour was doing the boat cruise so they all went to do that while my partner and I went to our second vineyard, Quinta do Bomfim. We relaxed and sat along the river with our three tastings (honestly the best decision!). Then we were off to the last vineyard of the day Quinta do Beijo, where we had another tour + 5 tastings during it with maybe 20 people or so. Fantastic 5th generation run vineyard. We even got the chance to climb into a wine barrel if you wanted too! The drive back was about 1.5h, but it was relaxing. Arrived back in Porto about 6-6:30pm. It was the perfect day and a must when visiting Porto!

You won’t regret this tour! - We would highly recommend this tour! Enrique was a great guide - friendly, knowledgeable, attentive & accommodating. He kept us right on schedule & even fit in time for us to grab a coffee. He also gave us great recs for things to do & see around Porto. This tour was overall a great experience :) (Enrique, if you’re reading this, we’re crossing our fingers for that family tree!)

Winery tour in the Douro Valley, Portugal! - We did the three wine tour in the Douro Valley. Our guide Jorge was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the Douro valley. He made us feel comfortable and everything ran smoothly. The last winery was fun as we were able to go into an actual wine barrel. The food on the tour was excellent especially the fish dish. We would definitely do this tour again.

Beautiful tour - A wonderful tour with João to Douro Valley. We booked a small tour which was shared with a total of 8 people. The small size tour was worth the minimal increase in price. We enjoyed the information about the region and the cultural history of Portugal. Great winery selections with a focus on smaller operations. We prefer to support the smaller local vineyards.

Long ride for a mediocre excursion. - None. Not impressed especially for the price of the excursion. Worst wine excursion ever with aviator.
