Good bang for your buck - Our tour guide Ivo, did a great job keeping the tour informational and entertaining. The tour was a reasonable price for the experience. For us, it included four wine tastings, a lunch (with wine), and a sample of olive oil. The boat tour was not necessary, but included also. We felt it was things we had seen already just from a different point of view, and it didn’t add much to the tour (saw better views from the wine farm, bus, etc.). Maybe if the boat ride came first, the tour would not feel as stretched long. The bus is also worth mentioning; it was very nice, comfortable, and with A/C. You will learn lots about the process of table and port wine making and history of the Douro Valley!

Beautiful Douro Valley - We booked this private day trip for our team of 30. From the start I was impressed with Tatania's prompt and friendly correspondence. The trip itself was brilliant. Our guide Milena, was a delight. She worked out quickly how much information we wanted to hear and was friendly with a good sense of humour. We enjoyed a visit to the Sandeman's Port winery, had an excellent lunch with great wines included, and a peaceful boat trip along the river. The scenery was awesome! Overall the trip was excellent value too.

Douro wine tour with Ivo - This was our 2nd time exploring the Douro with CM Tours. We travelled from Porto this time. We were staying in Douro last year. Had a fantastic time. The wineries were great as was lunch at the restaurant at Quinta de la Rosa. Our driver, Ivo, was amazing. We met him last year and requested him again. He is very knowledgeable about wine, wine-making and the region. He’s also got a really fun personality, tells great stories and speaks perfect English. We so enjoyed the trip and look forward to doing it again sometime. Thanks, Ivo. You’re the BEST!!!

Private Douro Valley tour from Porto - This full day tour from Porto to the Douro Valley was a fun and relaxing way to see this beautiful area of Portugal and learn about the history of Port wine making. The wineries we visited were interesting and the cruise on the Douro River was very enjoyable. And our guide and driver Ivo was simply the best. He was very informative and personable, and always making sure the pace of the tour was fine for us.

Fantastic day! - Brilliant tour of the Douro valley. Lunch was so much better than expected. Wine and port tasting excellent and informative. River cruise very relaxing, beautiful scenery. Sara was a wonderful guide. Can't wait to return to one of the most hospitable areas I have ever been!

Private Doura Valley - premium experience - We did the premium experience doura valley tour recently. We received an email confirmation the day before the tour and Tania picked us up on time from our airbnb in Porto. She drove us to the doura valley where we went to an old olive oil factory and wine company for a tasting of their olive oil and wines. From there we went to a port maker winery where we took a tour of the winery and had a tasting of port. Since we booked the premium experience, it came with a private lunch in the middle of the winery! The lunch was a picnic basket full of salads and savory pasteries and dessert, with 3 bottles of wine for 2 people! The lunch spot was great was it was not only in the middle of a winery but had a table, umbrella and trees for shade, and a bathroom. Great experience. From lunch, we took a tour of the lake and then finished off the day with a cheese and meat plate with more wine. Through it all, Tania was a great guide -- friendly and chatty. I would recommend to anyone!

THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE TOUR. 7 hours in the car :( - Our guide, Oscar, was fantastic. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this tour. Nothing to do with Oscar. We booked a private tour for $410 and there was nothing private about it besides the time in the car. Speaking of time in the car, the tour should just be called a driving tour … the tour was from 9 am - 7 pm (10 hours) and we spent 7 hours of this in the car :( When we arrived at the first (large) winery, we were surprised and disappointed to find 2 other large CM Tour groups there. We were forced to join the large English speaking group which were trash. They spoke over the tour guide, showed no interest in the winery, vaped, burped, and even ate grapes off some vines after the tour guide had just told us how precious and old those exact vines were. We were forced to follow the same group to the next winery and lunch and had the same unfortunate experience. CM needs to stop offering private tours or completely change it. Boutique wineries should be visited, zero contact with the large groups, and cut down the time in the car to 3-4 hours MAXIMUM. 7 hours in a car is painful.
