Our Douro Valley Tour Made for a Long Day But Was Worth Every Minute! - My family's tour of the Douro Valley was truly memorable. Much of the credit goes to our tour guide Joãu who was simply exceptional. I can't recommend him enough to anyone visiting Porto who wants an expertly guided tour. Joãu's a pro's pro, super personable and informative, a terrific conversationalist in English with a playful sense of humor. He's also a very alert and skilled driver, a must for the challenging, switchback-filled mountain roads that are an inescapable part of the tour. As for the tour itself, ours included five stops: the picturesque and historic town of Amarante; the breath-taking São Leonardo da Galafura viewpoint; a wine tasting and lunch at Carlos Alonso wine company; another wine tasting at D'Origem, which markets wine, olive oil and honey and maintains a small museum; and a stop in the town of Pinhão from where we embarked on an hour-long narrated cruise of the Douro River accompanied by a tasting of port wine and light snacks. All in all, a very worthwhile though long day of about 10 hours, including the trip to and from our hotel in Porto. The Douro Valley is spectacular, with its terraced mountains and namesake river. The place is not to be missed. Thank you Wonders Tours for delivering a product that more than lived up to what you advertised.

Perfect day - João was an awesome guy and had the best time getting to know him! Very knowledgeable and brought us to some amazing wineries, lunch, a boat ride and wonderful conversations throughout the day. Beautiful scenery and would highly recommend doing this excursion and more importantly getting João to take you on it!! Was the best part of the 5 days we stayed in Porto

Hard to beat wine tour! - Outstanding! Our tour driver, Filipe, picked us on time, went over the plan for the day, with no time wasted, we were on our way. Filipe is a “true” professional driver, very knowledgable of the Douro wine valley. Driving the wine vineyard roads is not an easy challenge. Always asked if needed anytime, answered our questions the best he could. All in all, the private tour is the only way to completely enjoy the Douro Valley.

Private tour to the Douro Valley - Delfina was a fabulous tour guide! We were very impressed with her driving skills with all the sharp turns and narrow roads. We highly recommend her!
