Spreetshoogte Pass - Spreetshoogte Pass is a mountain pass in central Namibia, connecting the Namib Desert with the Khomas Highland by traversing the Great Escarpment, a geological feature of much of the southern part of the African continent.

Solitaire - Solitaire is a small settlement in the Khomas Region of central Namibia near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Quick stop for beautiful pictures at the most scenic view.

Namib-Naukluft Park - The Namib-Naukluft Park is a national park in western Namibia, situated between the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and the edge of the Great Escarpment.

Sossusvlei

Dune 45 - Dune 45 is a star dune in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Its name comes from the fact that it is at the 45th kilometre of the road that connects the Sesriem gate and Sossusvlei.

Deadvlei - Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Also written DeadVlei or Dead Vlei, its name means “dead marsh”. The pan also is referred to as “Dooie Vlei” which is the fully Afrikaans name.

Sossusvlei - Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert, in the Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia. The name “Sossusvlei” is often used in an extended meaning to refer to the surrounding area, which is one of the major visitor attractions of Namibia.

Sesriem Canyon - Sesriem is a small settlement located in the Namib Desert, in Namibia, close to the southern end of the Naukluft Mountains. It is especially known because the “Sesriem gate” is the main access point to the Namib-Naukluft National Park for visitors entering the park to visit the nearby tourist attraction of Sossusvlei.

March 2-4, 2024 Great private tour! - My husband and I had a wonderful 3 day trip March 2-4, 2024 with Motema Tours. We were picked up at our hotel in Windhoek and the first day was spent driving out to the Namib Desert. Rodrig was a fantastic guide. We stopped at Spreetshoogte Pass and the town of Solitaire, and spent the night at Elegant Desert Lodge, which was a wonderful hotel. Day 2 was jam packed with going to Namib-Naukluft Park where the big red sand dunes are. Pictures can't convey the size and beauty of the desert. We climbed Dune 45 and visited Deadviel, Sossuslvlei, and Sesriem Canyon. We took an optional plane flight over the desert which was very worthwhile. The third day was spent driving back to Windhoek and admiring the beautiful scenery of the Naukluft mountains, as well as seeing zebras, a hyena, meerkats, ostriches, and other animals. This is a great private tour if you only have a few days to see the sand dunes.

Breathtaking landscape memorable experience - Amazing diverse landscape with a knowledgeable and professional guide made this a memorable tour. Highlight was seeing a pride of 11 lions in Etosha nature reserve. From the jaw dropping landscape to enthralling dune 4x4 racing to the luxurious African sundowners eating great food outside under the stars.

What an nice surprise! - LOVED IT! Rodrig was our tour guide. He was amazing. He is super nice, professional, and knowledgeable. He is well informed in the history, flora/fauna, geography, and geology of Namibia. So glad we decided to do the 3 day trip instead of the 2 day. It’s the same but with an extra night in the lodge where you can look at the stars and enjoy the desert views. You’ll be back in Windhoek around 1:30pm on the last day. Highly recommended!

Worth the trip and the money. Your Insta pics will make your mates jealous - Great trip. Picked up from Wdh airport. 2 nights in lodge located just outside the park. The room is comfortable and the pool is perfect. The second day is when you take in all the sights of the desert. You’ll be back by the pool by mid afternoon, satisfied….Thoroughly recommended. And our driver/guide Rodrique was brilliant

Worth the trip - This was a brilliant trip. We were picked up from the WDH airport and taken on the long trip down to namib desert. The lodge was outside the national park, but it was a lovely place to stay with a great room and pool. We stayed for 2 nights there, as part of the package. The second day is when you get up early and get all the wonderful sights of the desert while it’s still relatively quiet. You’ll be back by the pool by mid afternoon…. Thoroughly recommended. And our driver/guide Rodrique was brilliant too.

A great trip to the Namibian Desert - An all too short trip to the Namibian Desert. My guide, Benjamin, was knowlegable about the desert and the history of Namibia. The lodge was comfortable and clean and the staff very friendly. Lots of wildlife, including ostrich, springbok, oryx and baboons, as well as warthogs that hang out at the lodge.

AMAZING SHORT TOUR - Even though it was short but we still enjoyed it. We had a limited time in Namibia, so we took that option and we enjoyed it. Our Guide was exceptional and Motema Tours and Safaris was efficient to arrange this Tour in a short time frame. Highly recommended!
