Highlights
  • Monterosso al Mare - The northernmost village of the Cinque Terre is Monterosso, which is divided into two sides: the historic center and the “new” side called Fegina, with a pedestrian tunnel connecting the two. Monterosso is larger than the other towns and is the only one that offers beach services, making it the most visited of the Cinque Terre. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
  • Vernazza - Vernazza the smallest of the Cinque Terre, and commonly known as the most charming with a beautiful little port and the Church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia which stands right on the water. Here you will also see the Torre del Belforte which is located right on the harbour as a protective beacon for the small village. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
  • Corniglia - Perched 100 meters high on a cliff, Corniglia is the only one of the towns without a port and has a panoramic terrace from which you can see Manarola and Riomaggiore to the south and Vernazza and Monterosso to the north. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
  • Manarola - Manarola is located at the northern end of the Via del Amore and is part of the municipality of Riomaggiore. Known for its wine production, Manarola produces the only dessert wine called Sciacchetrà which is found only in this area. We will pass by slowly to be able to see the village and take photos. There is a speed limit within the Cinque Terre National Park, so this tour has a nice, slow pace to allow you to soak in all the beautiful scenery.
  • Riomaggiore - The last village of the Cinque Terre we come across is Riomaggiore. With brightly colored houses built vertically into the surrounding hills, Riomaggiore is the second largest of the five villages and is widely known for the excellent diving spots off its coast in the marine protected area that stretches all along the Cinque Terre. Here you will also see where the famous Via del Amore footpath begins, which leads to nearby Manarola. From Riomaggiore, we will exit the National Park of the Cinque Terre and head down the coast towards Portovenere. As we cruise along, you will see the beautiful terraced hillsides and secluded crystalline coves only accessible by boat. There will be time to swim in the crystal clear waters.
  • Portovenere - Portovenere, often referred to as the sixth village of the Cinque Terre, is also considered to be the most beautiful of the coastal villages in the region. With this tall, narrow, brightly coloured houses that line the harbour and the incredible St. Peter’s Church on the cliff side, Portovenere is a sight not to be missed! Here we will await the sunset while enjoying an aperitivo of local pesto and focaccia served with local white wine, beer, water and soft drinks. After that, we will sail through the Gulf of the Poets to La Spezia where the tour will end shortly after sunset.

Cancelled but still they provide a great solution - I cannot say that I had this tour. One day before the tour they cancel due to weather reasons and provided another option or a refund. I decided to get the new option in La Spezia. It was very nice and the boat guide Sara was amazing.

Lovely boat ride - The boat trip was comfy, full of interesting bays and sights. Snacks and drink was minimal and nice. We really enjoyed all the stories of our seasoned lady captain!

Fun evening at sea - We were very pleased to learn at pick up that we were the only people doing this experience, so we had the boat to ourselves. Captain Sara was professional and knowledgeable and took great pictures for us! The boat was very nice, clean, and comfortable and had a shower for us to use to rinse off after swimming!

Pleasant sailing but beware late guests - The sailing itself was very pretty and there were multiple opportunities for gorgeous pictures. Sara was a pleasant guide with an admirable music playlist. We appreciated the cold drinks because that first hour was HOT. It was nice to learn a bit about each different village. I was grateful to be sailing the Cinque Terre and not hiking it in high heat, especially once I saw the very steep terrain. 😊 The reason I deducted a few stars was our late departure from Monterosso (not Sara’s fault; two guests were very tardy) and we never made up the time. The result was that I missed my 9:15 PM train back to Santa Margherita Di Ligure and didn’t walk into my hotel until 12:50 AM. There was only one train after my originally scheduled one; luckily I made that or I’d have been stranded in La Spezia for the night! Given that I had to be up at 4 AM to depart for a train to Bari, I was a physical wreck the next day. My suggestion is to run the tour 5:15-8:15 PM, building in a 15 minute grace period so that the boat docks in La Slezia on time. I was pretty frazzled trying to get a cab on the street (impossible!) and then walking all the way to the station at night using Google maps. That took half an hour. It definitely impacted my overall experience.
