Additional Information
The Villarrica Volcano is the most active in Chile! It has an open crater, it emanates gases permanently and depending on its activity it is possible to see magma inside its crater. It is ideal for mountaineering, for beginners or for people with experience. The view from the summit (at 2847 meters above sea level) is impressive and allows you to see several lakes and volcanoes.
When the volcano is snowy, the descent is done with sleds and it is possible to descend the entire volcano by sliding while sitting. It is a unique experience that cannot be found in any other mountain in the world!
Since November 8, 2022, the Villarrica volcano has been on yellow alert due to volcanic activity. This alert limits access to the crater, the limit being between 500m and 800m of slope before the summit. Last update July 2024.

Excellent Villarica Volcano ascent through Ermitaño Expediciones. - In addition to the trip being excellent, Ermitaño Expediciones was an exceptional company. They were prompt and thorough in replying to inquiries and the guides were extremely helpful and organized preparing to set out and they were attentive to our every need on the mountain.

Climb the volcano with yellow alert. - The excursion was super fun, the guys super good, waited, helped, shared their experiences and knowledge with us constantly, the ascent became super easy hurts the early cut of the yellow alert tour. On the way down we did it in culiskate it was also very fun for routes the snow was beautiful.
Upstairs we celebrate my birthday with cake and candle.

Once-in-a-lifetime thrilling experience - Climbing Villarrica was hands-down the highlight of our entire Chile vacation. Diego’s expertise, enthusiasm, and passion, plus the thrill of making it up through snow and wind, and the reward of awesome views, made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Fantastic value. Do it!

A fun challenge - Christian was an excellent guide.
Our backpacks were all ready to go when we arrived. We were supplied with an assortment of clothing including trousers, jacket and gloves.
The whole experience was amazing, especially sliding down at the end.
Was nice and challenging going up and Christian made sure we all got up together and in good time.

Villarrica volcano ascent - Ermitaño expeditions is an excellent agency, during the trip they explained techniques, safety and tips to maintain our energy and better performance despite not having much experience, you feel accompanied and supported, motivation that takes you to any summit, to all the guides my gratitude and especially to Sebastián whose support and motivation was essential, he explained to us the flora and fauna of the place, the history of the volcano and the city of Pucon, making the trip enjoyable and a lot of learning. Thank you because my birthday was great, even better than I expected.. thank you 😊

An unmissable tour for anyone going to Pucon - Our guide, Sebastian, was very helpful from the beginning to the end of the tour. The ride is sensational, beautiful landscapes, a lot of physical effort and tremendous satisfaction when you get to the top.

Awesome - Great organization, the guides spoke a lot of languages and explained everything very clearly in each of them.
The walk was really nice and pleasant, the view magical and for a first introduction to mountaineering it was perfect.
The team was really great, good understanding in the group and the little drink offered at the end allowed us to make friends too!

Hard climb but rewarding - Excellent service and very well organized. Great people. My only concern is I got pulmonary edema symptoms before the chalet. I mentioned it to the leaders of the climb. They blew it off, I stopped at the chalet. This is a serious condition so my dr said and they should have taken me down. Instead we waited one hour plus for the other group to summit and return before we descended. Gotta bone up on altitude illnesses and how they needed to address their clients situations. Fortunately my symptoms dissipated after 24 hours. Not good however when on international travel! I guess everyone needs to listen to their own body and make their own call.
