Additional Information

Join us to marvel at the stunning sights in Puerto Plata. Our first destination is the rum factory, Macotrix, where we’ll have a 15-20 minute tour guided by a factory manager. Next is a panoramic view where we’ll experience part of the entire city and our cable car. Further, we’ll see Amber and Larimar, precious Dominican stones - if you prefer not to visit, just inform the driver. At the Cigar Factory, you get to witness cigar rolling in action - you can try your hand at it and purchase any you like. Joaquin Gift Shop is our recommended stop for souvenirs and personal items given its fair prices. Paseo de Doña Blanca or ‘Pink Street’, which housed the first hotel in Puerto Plata, is an ideal spot for photography given its stunning architecture. Finally, at the Umbrella Street, enjoy the picturesque views, capture beautiful photos and try our delightful chocolate factory.

Puerto Plata tour - We enjoyed the tour of Puerto Plata, our first experience in the Dominican Republic, and were able to see much more of the area than we would have by ourselves. Our guide/driver, Santos, was very solicitous of what we wanted to see. He was personable and polite. I do suggest if you book this tour that you get very detailed instructions on where to meet and time for pickup. Unless you have been to this port before, you may know that there is a very large area off the crise ship that is specifically for cruise passengers and taxi drivers must wait on the far side of the area. Once you get to the taxi area there are a number of drivers there. They were helpful in pointing out Santos to us.
