Taino Gifts Punta Cana - “Sancocho” is a typical Dominican soup. Tourists will learn how to cook it with 7 different types of meat and local “viveres” (roots): ñame, yuca, yautia and platano. The perfect way to make it a true Dominican experience is to dance bachata y merengue while cooking. All “sancocho” have to be eaten with Dominican rice and avocado. Our guests will be pleasantly surprised by the delicious dessert and local liquor degustation. All clients will be brought to their hotel before midnight with full bellies and a content heart and soul.
The small and comfortable “Taino Gourmet Cooking Lab” labeled mini-bus will pick up you from your hotel one hour before the activity. Immediately when the last guest arrived we start with our “Sancocho Borracho” cooking class.

A Dominican flavor to take home - Favorite part was actually getting to cook and learning the tradition and culture behind the sancocho. Amelia was a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the ingredients. It is definitely a dish I can make at home.

Fun, Tasty and Informative - We ended up with a private lesson with Francesca and her team, and they were all so warm and hospitable. We learned the history of Sancocho, learned and tasted some of the unique local ingredients, and made the dish together at individual stations. The meal was delicious, and the whole evening was a lot of fun. I would recommend for anyone interested in trying local food, as well as an exciting change from your typical resort fare. Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Awesome Evening! - Francessca and Javier along with the rest of the crew were great! We had a blast cooking with them. I would highly recommend this excursion while in Punta Cana. Everything was exceptionally clean and very well organized. Can’t wait to do it again!

Cooking class sancocho borracho - We started the evening with a shot of mamajuana, and Francesca told us the history of cacao and coffee, after that we had a drink and started with the lesson. Francesca explained us every step in English, eventhough we were the only foreigners. We got to eat our own creation of sancocho. And after that we ate a piece of their selfmade chocolate. Overall the experience was nice. The staff were very kind. Thank you for this great evening of learning some Dominican Culture !

Amazing cooking class - My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience with the team for the Sancocho cooking class! Even though it was just the two of us with their team of 3, they were amazing teaching us the history of the dish and how to make it. At the end we all enjoyed the meal together. We'll make it again at home. We would definitely do another class with them! Especially since my boyfriend speaks very little Spanish. Great that the class was in English.
