Amazing experience, highly recommended! - We had the best experience with Ernesto! The tour was arranged several days in advance, and we were picked up right on time in a superbly comfortable van. When he learned of my keen interest in birds, Ernesto did a detour to stop at a lake where we saw a variety of species in the lake habitat. Wow! Using a spotting scope, Ernesto showed us close-up views and took photos of a wide variety of species of birds, as well as lizards and other life! Curo National Park was rich with bird life, interesting plants and trees, various types of lizards, and monkeys and coatis, and Ernesto is extremely knowledgeable about their ecology and life histories. We wrapped up the tour with cold drinks and delicious pineapple and watermelon at a picnic table. Highly recommend!

What awesome tours and tour company! - We most recently toured with Grasshopper in March of this year. Not sure how to say it without being to bubbly, but Ernesto is a knowledgeable, funny and accommodating professional who aims to please! We have toured with Ernesto a number of times including Curu, Tortuga, Bioluminescence, snorkeling off shore and more. One of the most memorable times was to Tortuga where we swam, enjoyed a beach cooked meal and a wonderful day of sun all guided by Grasshopper tours. We also can not say enough about the comfort of his tour van and how clean it is kept. The refreshments on the Curu tour were very much appreciated :) I would say that one of the toughest jobs is to be a tour guide (a certified one at that). It is hard to please everyone but for my money, I would recommend Ernesto and Grasshopper Tours and day of the week! Keep it up Ernesto… you’re the best!!

It was an awesome day. Well worth the money. - Ernesto picked us up at our front door and the tour had already began as he had his telescope set up out front to spot a very rare bird that is usually only sighted for a very short period of time in this region. We then traveled to Curu and did about an hour to an hour and a half hike with stops to see very spectacular wildlife. Ernesto had fresh fruit that he cut up for us, along with drinks and we had these after our hike as he explained more to us. Very informative and excellent sense of humor too. Would definitely use this tour company again.

A Wonderful Tour of Curu - I can't even begin to say how wonderful our tour was with Ernesto. He is an excellent tour guide. He has a keen eye and spotted so much wildlife. He is funny, knowledgeable, and a true professional.

Dishonest, took $$$ w/o providing a tour--no notice given - I booked the tour more than a month in advance, and day before, guide cancels the tour--and deletes the messages he sent a few hours ago about tour details. He then apparently changed his mind, said for the 1st time that he has to take a ferry to get to Puntarenas and that he doesn't feel like dealing with the extra travel. The tour I booked is advertised as being in Puntarenas. Pick up location is listed as Puntarenas. If he doesn't like traveling to Puntarenas, then why is he advertising tours from Puntarenas? No notice. No apologies. All I got were lies and rude behavior. He took payment (after increasing the rate by more than 100%). I am not getting a tour and as of today, viator is not refunding the money. Grasshopper Tours is the company where this guide works.
