Amazing surf instructors - Alvaro and the coaches were all amazing. Our family took surf lessons every day for a week and Alvaro and his team had all of us surfing well by the time we left. My 5 yr old son was shredding thanks to Alvaro

Book if available!! You won’t regret it. - Alvaro was the instructor at a retreat I signed up for (Shaka- highly recommend). Aside from making you feel like a familiar friend, he is extremely knowledgeable and has great coaching skills. I accomplished much more than I expected I could going in. He cared so much to help and push me to leave feeling proud. He’s extremely good at correcting and making your lessons incredibly efficient. In 6 days I went from learning pop-ups to catching a green wave. He is honest about expectations and progression but always makes you feel proud of how you’re doing. Whether you’re staying at Shaka or elsewhere, I HIGHLY recommend booking at least a few sessions with Alvaro. I have had 2 other instructors in the past and he’s far and away the best!

Surf lessons - Alvaro is absolutely without a doubt the best surf coach in all playa hermosa ! I learned so much from Alvaro, whether it was perfecting my technique to understanding the Costa Rica swell, the whole experience was amazing ! It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an experienced surfer, this is the place to go. Alvaro was amazing and I will be coming back 100% !!!

I came in with no experience and with his instruction and guidance helped me develop my confidence and skill with each wave, Even in large and challenging water conditions, I always felt safe and confident. So thankfully for the lessons with Salt Water Surfing Co ! I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to improve or learn their surfing, regardless of your skill level.

Best surf instructors I’ve worked with - I can’t say enough great things about Alvaro and the Saltwater Surf instructors. These guys are super technical and able to help anyone see massive improvements in their surfing abilities in a short amount of time. I always felt safe in the water despite some choppy conditions and made huge strides in my confidence and overall surfing abilities in just a few days. Can’t wait to see them again!

Excellent Surf Instruction - I am a former high level athletic instructor. I have worked with hundreds of coaches over the years. The coaches at Salt Water Surf Company are not only highly qualified and technical instructors, they also clearly care deeply about the people they work with. I spent 7 days working with their coaches and I strongly recommend them. They are knowledgeable, and excellent with any level of surfer regardless of the individual surfers experience. I will be visiting Costa Rica again and plan to work with the coaches at Salt Water Surf Company when I return.
