Disembark at the Walter Peak Country Farm, for a gourmet BBQ buffet dinner showcasing New Zealand specialties at the Colonel’s Homestead. Sample an expansive array of New Zealand’s traditional cuisine from the buffet including meat and seafood from the outdoor grill, antipasto selection salads and vegetables. Then finish your meal with our irresistible selection of homemade desserts, a New Zealand cheeseboard and freshly brewed tea and coffee. A range of wines and other beverages are available for purchase. The resident pianist will provide background music and the open fire creates a cozy atmosphere in the cooler months.

A well run tour. Just sit back and enjoy - From instructions on how to find the meeting spot to delivery back on time, everything went very smoothly. We enjoyed the trip on the TSS Earnslaw with efficient serving of snacks and coffee, and the commentary. Arriving at Walter Peak (the staff were outside waving) we were ushered inside to a seat and impeccable service. The buffet had everything you could want. Without being rushed, we were then ushered to an outdoor stadium to watch a sheepdog demonstration, very entertaining. Back on the Earnslaw after a wander in the shop and back to the wharf on time with an orderly disembarkation.

Nice ambiance - The cruise experience was good. Though I am not really a meat eater, I find too much of a meat kind then seafood. But I enjoyed the food while looking at the sea.

Excellent all around! - The TSS Earnslaw cruise on Lake Wakatipu was relaxing and beautiful. The boat itself was so pretty & historic (built in the same year as the Titanic), and it was neat to see how the boat is still being run using coals. The only disappointing thing was that the PA system was not working on the outside, so we were unable to hear the commentary from the captain as we cruised Lake Wakatipu. The lunch buffet at Walter Peak High Country Farm was spectacular and delicious! The lakefront view was amazing. Food was high quality and good, service was excellent. We also enjoyed the sheep shearing and sheep herding demonstration. So informative and enjoyable. A definite must-do if you're visiting Queenstown.

Totally awesome experience, all of it! - The cruise was lovely still in the light with nice info given also about the TSS Earnslaw, my husband went to have a look around and saw the engine room and downstairs. It is just amazing how this old boat from 1912 originally works so beautifully, hat off to the people working in the engine room and scooping coals into the fire. The info was a bit hard to hear with all the people talking though. The dinner was delicious and the staff wonderful. So much food, two sides of a bar lined with different kinds of BBQ meat and grilled Bluff’s fish of the day, a roast vegetable bar, a seafood bar, a salad bar and a dessert bar. The meat was constantly filled up and there was plenty for everyone. The farm show with a sheep being shorn and Miss the dog showing off her herding skills was very cool and brought humorously by Ashley. Back to the boat in the pouring rain so we all quickly went back on after the show. The pianist, who had played the way there, had now put booklets down for a sing-a-long which was enjoyed by everyone and big fun. Before we knew it we were back in Queenstown on the wharf. Definitely recommend doing this when in Queenstown, it is awesome and worth it’s money.

Highlight of our trip ! - Great way to spend an evening enjoying a relaxing cruise across the Lake, followed by an amazing dinner in a beautiful setting. The quality and selection of food was outstanding - a variety of appetizers, sides, and meats, followed by desserts. All very high quality and plenty of choices. A buffet for this many people is a challenge - and they succeeded ! The farm show was very informative and entertaining. This experience was one of the highlights of our New Zealand vacation - highly recommended.

Problem with seating - Dinner was wonderful and the sheep shearing was entertaining, but, the boat trip could have been better. I would give them 5 stars if they managed seating better. At the moment people take your seat when you get up to go to the bar or take a photo. This happened to us and we saw it happen to others as well as some people try and get people to move out of a seat so they can have the seat. One day this will end in a big argument. By simply putting a rule in place that people should choose a seat and return to that seat throughout the boat trip would stop potential aggravation and make the trip less stressful especially for families. The boat trip is a long trip and marketed as a trip that in which you can go see how the steam boat works, get a drink, go to the toilet, etc this requires you moving from your seat and when people see others losing their seat just by getting a drink or taking a photo out the window they sit, they don't move to enjoy what is on offer. The few interrupt the many enjoying their trip.
