Highlights
  • Manuel Antonio National Park - Our 3-hour guided tour starts with a brief overview of the facilities, trails, and beach areas we will explore. Recommendations will be tailored based on the season and the type of group attending the tour.

As previously mentioned, we will conduct the tour in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise) of the standard operators and guides. This approach allows us to walk with fewer people and less noise, focusing on the essence of the tour: observing local wildlife, learning about iconic tropical species, and, if possible, capturing great photos or videos.

Commonly spotted species include both types of sloths, monkeys, bats, agoutis, tree frogs, toucans, and even snakes.

  • Playa Espadilla Sur - Since our tour follows the opposite direction, this will be the first beach you encounter, located at the end of the elevated boardwalk or Sendero Universal El Manglar. During the dry season (January to May), the waves at Playa Espadilla Sur can be very calm, but they can become rough with a strong “Backwash” on the steeper beach sandbars. Keep an eye out for sea turtle tracks on the beach, and if you’re fortunate, you might see baby sea turtles emerging from their nests. Showers and bathrooms are available for your convenience.
  • Playa Manuel Antonio - Known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio Beach offers a stunning contrast of green, white, and blue, where the forest meets the beach and the ocean. It’s perfect for swimming with family members, older adults, or children. Showers and bathrooms are available for your convenience.

Highlight of our trip - Highly recommend! You need a guide to be able to spot most of the animals and the photos I attached are ones our guide captured for us. My mom has a bad back and we were still able to walk the trail easily. Mostly flat with one small hill. This was our favorite part of the trip. We got to see multiple sloths, monkeys, bats, and more!

Best Tour! - Ivan was incredible. Without him we wouldn’t have seen anything. He took pictures for us, taught the kids how to be safe, and showed us so many animals.

Manuel's Tours is A+++ - My girlfriend and I did much research and checked many tour reviews before deciding on Manuel's Tours, Costa Rica. One of the high points that we read in the tour description was the type of spotting scope that he had; which once we were able to view for ourselves was incredible. We were also very impressed with how knowledgable Manuel was with every aspect of the flora and fauna, and also the geographic features and how they were formed. We could tell immediately that learning and sharing his knowledge of Costa Rican ecosystems was Manuel's passion. We can thoroughly recommend Manuel's Tours. Thank You, Bob & Karen

Fun adventure for both kids & adults. Rafa is the best! - Our first trip to Manual Antonio Park with kids. Rafa took wonderful care of us. He was amazing at keeping the kids engaged and taught us adults many things along the way too. We were able to find at least 15 different animals. Highly recommend Rafa and his team.

Fantastic guide experience - Avan was our private tour guide and he was exceptional! He has a wealth of knowledge about the park areas, specific animals and the insects we observed. He did not try to rush us along on our tour, instead he took his time looking for various things of interest. He even went so far as to take photos of findings via his scope for us! A+++ service. If you want an exceptional guide and memorable experience please ask for Avan…you won’t be disappointed!!!

Magical Jungle Safari Hike! - This was an incredible tour. Our guide Daniel, was immensely knowledgable about all manner of flora and fauna, from birds to insects to plants and mammals. He had such a good eye and noticed so many tiny things that we would never have seen without him. He found a stick insect, an owl moth, a number of bats, land crabs, hermit crabs, pruning crabs, several types of hummingbirds, a collared forest falcon, 4 2-toed sloths (3 with faces visible) and a 3-toed sloth, a howler monkey, a bunch of capuchin monkeys, there was a pale-billed woodpecker and a yellow throated toucan, a basilisk, many black iguanas, a giant red-winged grasshopper, a white ibis. He clearly loved his job and was so informative and able to find all of these creatures on his spotting scope and helped us take photos with the scope so we got incredible photographs! We had an excellent time and are so glad we took this tour.

Beware of Manuels Tours for Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio Parque. - The tour company never showed up. We were left stranded and had to scramble to find a new tour guide that morning. Luckily we were abe to find a very good one. I tried twice to reach Manuels Tours and left 2 messages 11 days before and got no answer. The night before I WhatsApp'd him and he told me to meet at my hotel at 7:30a. We waited until 8:15a and after trying to reach him again twice by WhatsApp, we had to look for the new guide. We complained ti Trup Advisor and we are being issued a credit fir the $178 that we paid. Beware of Manuels Tours for Parque National Manuel Antonio.
