Brilliant! Completely Unique and Interesting! - This excursion was absolutely worth it in just about every way. To get the bad out of the way, they didn't let us bring in cameras and it was $36 for a single photo. Annoying for sure, but it didn't bother me with how amazing this experience was. To start the check in experience was very smooth. We were told what to do, who to submit our forms too, what group we were in. It all flowed very naturally and it was a short form to fill out. Next, our guide was absolutely fantastic. My wife and I had written that our reason for being there was to celebrate our honeymoon. The guide noticed that and said how fun that was for us! All that to say that she was very personable. Then our guide helped walk us through the gathering equipment. Everything you needed was there at the site. That included: wet suit, water shoes, life jacket, helmet, helmet flash light and even a walking stick if needed. Of course you just need to bring your own bathing suit. Then we got to the cave and it was absolutely beautiful. We saw some Toh birds outside the cave that were really unique! Then we entered into the actual cave and it was stunning! So many stalactites and stalagmites. There were some that looked like they were covered in frost. There were tree roots coming down from the ceiling. Also, the whole time if felt safe and secure and we had zero issues. There were some parts where you had to pay attention to where you were stepping. As long as you took it slow it was very easy. There were even some people in our group who had serious walking issues and they were able to do it. Part way through the walking and swimming there was an incredibly cool moment. Our guide asked us to float out in the middle of this small cavern (you didn't have to do this if you didn't want to) and be completely quiet. Then she asked us turn off our head lamps. There were also some flashlights around the room. Then she had us close our eyes, count to three, and..... complete blackness. I couldn't see anyone no matter how close they were. It was a truly surreal, unique, and amazing experience!

I loved it! - The experience was way better than I thought it would be. We had Pepe as our tour guide and he was a lot of fun. They didn’t try and upsell you when you got there. Take everything they offer you: walking stick, water shoes and wet suit. You need it all. The tour itself was amazing. The cave, the water, the history was all phenomenal. If you’re not into walking, don’t book.

The best thing we did on vacation! - My partner and I absolutely loved Rio Secreto and our guide, Sarah, was truly awesome! All the gear we needed was provided and we were able to lock our things up safely while we toured the caves. We did not expect to spend so much time in the caves-- it was great! We definitely worked up an appetite for the included lunch afterward. There was a photographer who took pictures of the group and each individual throughout the entire tour- which we thought was a benefit (you aren't allowed to bring cameras or phones inside the caves to take your own photos). Although they charged a premium for the photos, they turned out SO good that we decided we had to buy them all!

Spiritual educational adventure - read reviews before booking this experience. Took short taxi ride from Airbnb. Friendly and professional staff and guides. Our guide, Mitch was very knowledgeable and had a passion for life. Safety was number one priority in our small group of 9. I didn’t know quite what to expect, but it was well worth the cost and time put into this sacred and spiritual place. Highly recommend.. The buffet lunch afterwards was plentiful and tasty. A professional photographer was with us the whole 2 1/2 hours, but we chose not to purchase the photos. There was no pressure to do so either way.

Amazing time! - My most memorable part of this excursion was the resilience and courage of our guide Mely! She was informative, very knowledgeable, extremely articulate, intelligent and a great representation of strength. We felt as though we were her relatives by her exhibition of care and compassion. Even more amazing, she led her group through navigating the caves at 8months pregnant! Mely is a tireless employee and a “super woman”! I’d recommend everyone take the trip if only to see her, be in her presence, and get to know her. Just an incredible experience with a phenomenal human being! #LoveMexico #MelyTheGreat

Unforgetful underground adventure ("Supremo") - ask for Diego - We loved the time we spent at Rio Secreto Nature Reserve. Our rating is 4.5 of 5. We chose the standard tour, no upgrade, for about USD$81/pp without hotel transport (but our resort secured a discount)! Our resort contact said this tour was special. The reviews said the tour was special. We were not disappointed. The fee included everything (except hotel pickup & dropoff, no photos) although you can pay more to get the transport included. Included in the tour were the guide (Diego!), wetsuit, water shoes, life vest, walking stick, hard hat with light, fresh towel, use of locker, locker key, and a buffet lunch. Diego was our amazing guide on the "Supremo" route. At every stage, he clearly and carefully advised us of what to do and what not to do. Our hike underground was unforgettable and stunningly scenic. We loved wading and then swimming in the underground river. I knew we couldn't take our phones or our own photos so I was prepared to pay for a professional one. Cost was USD$30 for 1 photo or USD$120 for all photos of your own group. If you are a large group, it would be worthwhile to get the package. We paid for 1 photo - it was enough for us. (I didn't see this until after we left, but I read that a book with the history & beautiful photos could be purchased from the gift shop for ~USD$15!) I could easily skip the included lunch although I'm sure some customers liked it since the overall trip was 3.5 hours. I would personally skip the lunch but opt to get a "free" photo. This day trip is worth it & you don't need to invest the whole day to have an unforgettable and unique adventure.

So much fun-issues with photo - The Rio Secreto $ Tulum was worth the money. The maya ruins were great but was so hot we could wait to leave. Than we experienced the caves with cool waters. A great outing. The photo option at the end was our negative issue. They do not print any photos. They give you a link with password. I saw the pictures and decided to download them later. The password does not work and we can’t get the pictures. I send them an email and no responses.

Gross wetsuits but amazing experience! - There was a lot of waiting to start. My 11am booking meant I would be picked up at 9:40am which was confusing. It’s a well oiled machine otherwise and totally worth the absurd price. I recommend the wetsuit, shoes and walking stick. They are pretty gross and smell terrible but worth it! My group was 12 people which felt too big. What an amazing experience though wow!
