- Pinnawala Zoo - the zoo spans 44 acres and has been designed to preserve its natural beauty. Sri Lanka, known for its rich animal diversity, is represented in two zones: “Sri Lankan” and “World”. Currently, the zoo houses various native animals including deer, leopards, crocodiles, different species of monkeys, birds, turtles, and more. The “Sri Lankan” section features a special open area where visitors can see the free-roaming Sri Lankan Leopard, a breathtaking sight. The Sri Lankan Leopard, native only to the island, is an endangered subspecies. These leopards are typically found in dry evergreen monsoon forests, arid scrub jungles, rainforests, and both low and highland forests. Seeing these predators at Pinnawala will be a unique experience.
