- Pinnawala Zoo - the zoo spans 44 acres, carefully landscaped to preserve its natural beauty. Sri Lanka, known for its rich animal diversity, is represented in two zones: “Sri Lankan” and “World”. Currently, the zoo hosts various native animals, including deer, leopards, crocodiles, several monkey species, birds, turtles, and more. The “Sri Lankan” section features a special open area where visitors can observe the free-roaming Sri Lankan Leopard, a breathtaking sight. This leopard subspecies is unique to the island and is classified as endangered. Typically found in dry evergreen monsoon forests, arid scrub jungles, rainforests, and both low and highland forests, seeing these predators at Pinnawala offers a unique experience.
