Highlights
  • Monastery of Arkadi - Arkadi monastery is the most famous monastery on Crete and it’s a symbol not only of the island but of the entire Greece. Built in the 16th century, it was a center of art and education. In 1866 it was almost destroyed during the uprising against Osman Empire. During this time it played an important role since it was used as a shelter for more than 1000 people, most of them women and children.

You can learn about the history of this place on its territory and, of course, see wonderful architecture that remained untouched.
