Thank you Alain! - Great excursion and hike around southwest Iceland. Kleifarvatn lake and the sulphur springs were otherworldly and worth seeing. Unfortunately the 2024 eruption was not visible from the viewing point due to fog but seeing the lava fields from the other recent eruptions was amazing. Alain was also a great guide, knowledgeable and friendly.

Amazing day! - What a great day! The volcanic areas are fascinating and our guide, Sara, was knowledgeable and fun. A few cautions: There is more uphill hiking than I expected. There are no stops that include food so pack snacks and water. Bathrooms are limited. It’s all fine, just good to be prepared.

Amazing - We did the volcano hike myself and my daughter, omg it was so good! Ragnor the bus driver, well weren't we in safe hands. The winds were so strong but had every confidence in Ragnor. Then Dave our Irish guide was amazing. He was informative, funny and full of character. The tour was amended slightly due to the winds but Dave always did everything he could to please the guests. The tour itself was amazing, with stunning views, disgusting smells, you get to see real steaming lava! It was just excellent from start to finish.

doable hike with interesting stop at the hot spring - Although there was still some snow, the path wasn't too slippery, but because of the rocks it is important to watch where you're stepping. I would recommend taking hiking boots. Karol, our guide, also provided us with crampons to put in our bags if we would need them at any point. Each member of the group wore a warning vest, which made it easy to recognize where everyone was. The views were good, but nothing too crazy or spectacular. The volcano looks similar to a mountain. The hike itself was doable, the beginning was quite steep, but the length of the steep part was not too long. Everyone of our group made it. On our way back we took a different route to see the lava fields, where there was still some steam. The stop at the hot springs was very fascinating. The sun started setting, which provided beautiful lights. Our guide Karol did do stops in between the hike and explained in the meantime what we could see. He also did a short extra stop which was very kind.

Fantastic Afternoon - Tour guide was friendly, informative and great (if I remember right his name was Karon? Sorry if that’s wrong I am terrible with names). The tour was great seen lava from 2021 and also from the more recent activity. It’s hilly and rough terrain so my advise would be to be prepared with correct gear. We were lucky to have clear blue skies and no wind and the view from the top was awesome. Take water and snacks.

Great experience - It was safe well organised. The site itself is nice and really good views at the top of the hike. The guide Karol was very knowledgeable They were good health and safety measures in place. The bus was a little crowded. We went to a few different sites. We went to see where they dry fish and ship to Nigeria. We saw some bubbling rivers and it was a well paced day. There was not much places to stop to eat food, so bring your own food and snacks There was a toilet on the bus, but gents have to use outside. The toilets were all closed in different locations sadly. Overall, I would recommend

Amazing tour - We booked the new volcano site tour with Tom and Hannes and were absolutely blown away! Not only were Tom and Hannes very knowledgeable on Icelandic history and information regarding our tour stops, they also made the trip very fun. They went out of their way to make sure our tour was memorable, with many exciting stops added to the main attraction. Definitely got our money’s worth with these guys

Climbing - Intense climb up a 300,00 ft mountain. Not for inexperienced climbers. You view an active volcano, which is miles away. Binoculars needed for that !! Then, after you go to another climb down onto an older lava field.

A wet, cold and disappointing volcanic walking trip. - The Icelandic weather in January is always going to be unpredictable ! However, this trip should have been cancelled on the day we went. We were eventually picked up at 11.30 as opposed to a 11.00 time given (not a great start having to wait in the freezing cold ! ) The driver/guide was an enthusiastic Polish guy who gave us a brief explanation of the tour. The first stop was a small bubbling geyser and lava rocks, not bad before it started to drizzle. The next stop was the actual volcanic walking trip and we started out with heavy mist and poor visibility. This got increasingly worse as the walk and steady incline increased. By the time we nearly reached the summit, it was absolutely pouring down with a very strong wind blowing and we could barely see a thing. At this point the guide decided to go no further. In my opinion we should have never set off in the first place. By the time we got back to our bus, we had probably walked 4 miles in freezing windy rain and completely soaked. This was an absolute waste of money and quite frankly an awful experience. £80 for 4 hours ! I also have to mention the guide just in case “Bus Travel Iceland” are reading this. For most of the hike, he was on his phone messaging and hardly engaged with the group. Secondly, and more worrying, he was on his phone nearly all the time whilst driving and on a couple of occasions, he even had his laptop out !! I’m sure that if the weather was kinder, it would be an interesting experience, but sadly not on this occasion.
