Highlights
  • Aurora Reykjavik - Take a walk through history and learn how people and cultures around the world saw the Northern Lights via legends and myths connected to this amazing phenomenon. In our multimedia exhibition we offer interactive displays as well as a specially equipped
    photo booth
where you can learn how to adjust your camera’s settings should you want to try your hand at capturing the auroras yourself.

The high point of your visit to the center will certainly be our theatre where a continuously running HD film is playing throughout the day. Projected onto a 7-meter wide screen, you can sit back and enjoy this 25-minute film that features some of the most magnificent auroral displays seen over Iceland. The film is accompanied by soft music in surround-sound, making this a relaxing and restful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

One of the best museums in Reykjavik - I visited the Northern Lights Center for the second time and I loved it as much as the first time last year. It's very informative and interactive. You can easily spend hours there, reading all the panels and watching the documentaries, and hardly notice the time passing. I learned so much about the Northern Lights. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this museum, one of the top ones in Reykjavik, in my opinion.

Highly recommended - The museum was well set up. The exhibition is very interactive and you get a lot of interesting information about the Northern Lights. Both the physical phenomena and the historical facts are well explained. There is parking directly in front of the museum, but it is also easy to reach on foot from the city center. We would go back anytime.

Northern Lights center visit - Was a good resemblance since the lights were not visible for my visit. The virtual reality was great and I loved all the beautiful art & photography.

A lovely experience - My wife and I had 2 hours of Bliss. Experiencing what the Aurora Borealis would be like. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon, I would definitely recommend a visit to the Aurora centre. One day we will see the lights for real but in the meantime this is a very close experience. Thank you.

Safety pin - I loved it, everything was very clear and organized. The videos they show are spectacular. Very friendly people. They have the option of taking photos that they later send by email, having a nice coffee and they have souvenirs for sale.

Brilliant - We learnt all about the lights and saw diagrams and lots of pictures that made us feel has if we had actually seen the lights. The VR headset was very good and the complementary coffee after very welcome as we were made to feel.

Nice museum - Great museum with lovely show of amazing NL photos from all over Iceland. Easy to read boards. Nice touch for free tea at the end. We used the VR headsets which was interesting. Sadly for me I felt nauseous and headachey for the next few days, googled it and it is quite a phenomenon if your eyes strain easily or you suffer motion sickness! My husband was fine. It was a long walk from our hotel though, so allow enough time if you're staying quite centrally.

A great experience - This was a great experience especially for anyone not lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on their visit to Iceland. The centre is very informative with friendly and welcoming staff The VR headsets at the end of the tour are an added bonus. There’s a lovely gift shop to for anyone who wants something to remember their visit with 😀

Impressive displays - A small centre with informative displays. Impressive cinema and VR displays of the Northern Lights. Friendly staff. Free coffee. Wish we had been able to see the real thing, but the weather was not good for our stay.
