- EastWest - To commence your quest for the Aurora Borealis, you’ll engage in preliminary planning using the Aurora forecast before venturing to the chosen destination. The journey may entail a drive of approximately one hour to locate an optimal viewing area, where you might also have to wait for the spectacle to emerge. During this interval, we’ll serve hot chocolate and traditional Icelandic confections, and provide Icelandic woolen blankets for your comfort in the chilly outdoors.\n\nThere’s a possibility of relocating to different vantage points, facilitated by communication with other aurora enthusiasts who are also out in search of the lights each night. This strategy enhances the chances of witnessing the Northern Lights. Should the lights remain elusive during your excursion, you are offered another opportunity to join the tour at no additional cost, subject to availability.\n\nOur minibus transport ensures a premium experience with a limited group size of no more than 19 individuals, deliberately avoiding larger crowds to secure the most favorable location for observation.

Words alone cannot capture the beauty of this incredible natural phenomenon. It’s an experience that we believe you will truly appreciate and enjoy.
With this in mind, our Northern Lights tour is centered around the idea of creating a memorable experience. We begin by carefully planning our journey based on weather forecasts, heading towards the best possible locations to see the lights.
Sometimes, chasing the lights becomes part of the adventure. If we are fortunate enough to witness this magical display, it will be an unforgettable moment. However, if we don’t find them, there will be another opportunity to try.
During the tour, we provide complimentary photos, cozy Icelandic wool blankets, hot chocolate, and delicious Icelandic pastries.
To ensure a more intimate experience, we travel in a minibus, allowing for smaller group sizes (maximum of 19 people), and avoiding crowded areas to find the best vantage point.
- Please note that the access to restroom facilities out of urban areas is very limited while on the Northern lights tours.
- Even with the best of guides and a detailed forecast, sightings are never guaranteed. If we don’t find any lights while on tour, you can join us again another day for free (upon our availability). You will not be entitled to get a refund, though.
- A refund is only possible if the tour never operates while you are in Iceland and you never get the chance to join the tour which sometimes happens due to unfavorable weather conditions.
- The tour is operated in a minibus and does not exceed more than 19 passengers.
- Availability for tour cannot be checked without making a booking. Credit cards will only be charged upon confirmation of shown availability.
- This tour takes place at night, please dress up accordingly with warm garments. Bring along a hat, gloves and a scarf. Waterproof clothing is always recommended while touring around Iceland.
- Please check your email inbox - we will send you an email on your departure day in the afternoon to inform you if the tour goes ahead or if it is cancelled.Make sure to check the spam inbox too.
- Pick-up begins 30 minutes prior to departure time.
- Due to traffic regulations, tour buses are not permitted to drive or stop in certain city areas and may only stop at designated locations. If your hotel isn’t on our list, or if you’re uncertain about where to meet us for pickup, please email us at eastwest@eastwest.is.

Absolutely marvelous - The tour guide very kind and profesional. He explained very clearly the phenomenon of the northern lights.
He looked for the better spot to have a great look at the Auroras. The hot chocolate and blankets were a super plus in the tour.

Been blessed to see the Northern lights. Amazing - Amazing trip. Our tour guide Saevar was so good. He went an extra mile to extend our time so we can have extra time to enjoy the Northern lights. The coco & bread were lovely too.

Unforgettable experience - We booked the tour rather last minute based on local guide’s recommendation. East West was accommodating and we were about to join the tour with no fuss.
Our guide Sævar is very knowledgeable, I had learnt so much about northern lights through the 3-hour trip, where we caught some spectacular light show — said to be the best in September. It was an unforgettable moment, and S’s dedication just made it a better experience. I would strongly recommend everyone to go with them.

Great Northern Lights tour experience with Gummi - Gummi was a great guide during our tour and made sure that everyone was accommodated. After driving away from the city for 45 minutes or so, we arrived at a spot to wait for the northern lights. Gummi gave us some sky navigation tips and then it was time to wait - but not for long. After about 20 minutes or so, the lights arrived and were beautiful.Gummi took photos of all of us and shared the photo link with us afterward. He had quite the sense of humor - all of our guides did; which made for enjoyable experiences as well.

A Fun Night - Our guide, Ionuf B was so helpful - he found us a great dark spot to see some truly amazing lights. The hot chocolate and blankets were welcome! We also had some great photos sent to us. All in all in all a great tour.

Looking for Northern Lights Tours, go with EastWest - Absolutely 150% happy with this tour and our guide, Baldvin. To begin with this is a local tour agency. We received an email from EastWest a couple of hours before tour to confirm, then another email showing a pic of the vehicle, our guides name and the vehicle license number. We loved that they use Mini Buses which hold 19 max (so much better than the large buses others use). Baldwin showed up promptly at the time given. He was knowledgeable, so friendly and determined to try and give us a night to remember. He took us to spots away from the crowds and various spots until we got the views we wanted. He also took numerous photos of us and just the lights and then sent us a link for our own use. I would highly recommend this company and this guide to anoyone wanting a chance to see the Northern Lights!!

Have not received our promised refund. - Our tour was cancelled 2 different nights due to the weather. We still have not received the promised refund. We were really looking forward to this tour, but the weather did not cooperate.

Very Disappointing Tour - Whilst I did not mind that we weren’t able to see the light as this is expected, I was disappointed that the company went ahead on an evening with little expectation of seeing anything. The pre tour communication was good and timely pick up but for the price we were charged I’d expect more than 1 hour drive, then driver stopped to look through camera then we went for a toilet stop drive 15 more minutes then he pulled over on the side of the road and announced there was nothing to see then proceeded to hand out a drink and small pastry then drive back to Reykjavik - 4 hours only getting out of bus go to toilet was not value for money Again it’s not that we didn’t get to see the lights but this was a much more expensive tour than others and didnt live up to the advertising
