fish jerky & anecdotes about how icelanders bake bread without much grain - an all-round successful culinary insight - I visited Reykjavik with my sister and can only warmly recommend this tour if you want to dive into the local food scene. I wouldn't have tried dried fish otherwise and found out how delicious I find it. Seriously - give it a try! In addition to the dried fish, I also ate some delicious salmon, tasted the different types of bread and learnt which dishes Icelanders have adopted and customised from other countries. The food was very varied and accompanied by fascinating anecdotes about life in Iceland and interesting facts about the local food culture. I felt like i was getting a glimpse of Reykjavik away from the tourist attractions. Not only did i learn and try a lot, i also felt that i was in good hands. Our lovely tour guide was a huge foodie herself and she was able to pass on her enthusiasm for good food to me. The atmosphere was relaxed and easy-going. I'd love to come back when I'm there again.

Best food tour I've ever been on! - The tour was amazing! I've learnt so much about the icelandic cuisine and tried foods I would have never tried on my own. Sabrina did an amazing job and you could clearly see that she was passionate and very knowledgable about the icelandic cuisine. The best part was that I knew which foods to buy afterwards so I could bring a bite of Iceland home. I loved the tour and would definitly recommend it to anyone who would like to taste the real Iceland.

Iceland: For the Hungry and Curious - A great travel experience and concept. I wish that this tour existed in 1990 when I first traveled to Iceland. We started our tour in a neighborhood food store. We went shopping and I learned all about food in Iceland. Where food here comes from. What is produced locally versus what is imported and how that’s changing. Some interesting historical facts about the local diet and how that has been influenced by the changing Icelandic palate We then moved to a local brewpub, where we sampled several beer choices and selected one to have with our lunch. The lunch consisted of a sampling of all the food from the market. Beautifully presented, and explained, as to combinations with all the different condiments and side dishes. My surprise find? Fish jerky! Undoubtably a wonderful lunch experience, but it was so much more than that. Not only did I learn about food and ‘lunch’ specifically but about Icelandic history, culture, and demographics as well. I didn’t know what to expect from this tour, but it was an especially engaging and wonderful experience for me.

Lovely selection of food and interesting information - I went on this tour with some friends. It started with a visit to a supermarket where Sabrina (the guide) told us about traditions regarding Icelandic food, and a lot about imported food as well. I am Icelandic so I knew many of the things she talked about but I also learned a lot that I didn't know before. In the second part of the tour we got to taste a selection of food, beer and sweets. The selection was very varied, and Sabrina gave advice about traditional combinations so it was a wonderful way to experience a variety of Icelandic food. It is also an opportunity to mix the flavours in new ways. Very interesting. Plenty of food. Very tasty.

It's the perfect combination: local, food, drink and coziness! - My mom and I went on this tour and it was fantastic. If you are into food, but I don't mean into the kitch - but actually wanting to know the Icelandic culinary history, its influences and how food is consumed today - then this is the tour for you. Walking through a local supermarket, and listening to Sabrina, who is richly knowledgable and beautifully spoken, getting a chance to see daily life in action and then sitting together in a cozy microbrewery with a delicious local beer, as Sabrina begins to serve the food - a dream. Every detail, down to every piece of presentation is exact, beautiful and comfortable. You feel like you are eating with friends at a friend's house! It's the perfect combination of learning, and a mix between eating in a restaurant and eating at your friend's house!

Good stories, educational and very filling for the stomach - This was an amazing tour! It was extremely fun and educational, even more so as an Icelander. It is funny to recall forgotten things in relation to my own food culture. How it has changed so rapidly and to be reminded to be grateful for all the options available today. Sabrina is easy going and very relatable while she leads you through a fun journey. She masterfully connects her own experience with getting to know the food culture in Iceland and also has a good mix of stories collected from friends through the years. This is a fun hobby she has and I highly recommend this adventure. The food part itself was so very varied and good, a real tasting tray that left me way too full. Thank you so much!
