Highlights

Join us as we head west on a full day magical mystical tour to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and surroundings.

Countless lunar landscapes and volcanic vistas lie in store for us as we drive west out of Reykjavik and head towards the magnificent Snæfellsjökull glacier.

The glacier sits atop the active stratovolcano of the same name that took centre stage in the Jules Verne sci-fi novel, ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’. You might even have spotted the ice cap glittering from across the bay in Reykjavik. The volcano is thought to house mystical powers and is considered by many to be one of the seven main energy centres of the earth, so don’t be surprised if you experience an unexplained spiritual energy flow whilst in it’s presence.

This is an area is of exceptional geological beauty – craters, lava fields (some more recent than others) idyllic, hidden coves and bizarre rock formations all lie in wait to be explored and discovered. Local legends and folk stories abound and are an essential element of this multifaceted tour.

The day would not be complete without an Icelandic home-cooked early evening meal along with some local interaction - so, naturally, this is also included. As are some light snacks and bottled Icelandic water.

A fabulous tour that really hits the spot when it comes to observing volcanic phenomena, discovering Iceland’s dramatic coast line and experiencing a more spiritual and mystical side of Iceland.

Additional Information

Embark on a journey through Snæfellsnes National Park, often referred to as the mini version of Iceland because of its varied landscape. You’ll get to witness the moss-covered Berserkjahraun and the quaint fishing village of Grundarfjörður, Kirkjufell mountain proudly standing amidst magnificent green hills and babbling brooks.

We further explore Djúpalónssandur, an impressive black lava stone beach providing great cliff views, before moving on to the hamlet of Arnarstapi. Here, you can enjoy an awe-inspiring vista of Snæfellsjökull glacier, a renowned location largely recognized for its mention in the novel ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ where the main characters find the gateway to the center of our planet on Snæfellsjökull.

To end the day on a good note, a traditional Icelandic home-prepared feast along with a touch of local interaction is planned.

  • Dress according to weather. In Iceland it is always wise to dress in warm, waterproof clothes. Weather changes can be sudden so expect the unexpected. Bring a waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good outdoor shoes are recommended.

Beautiful, Scenic, Humbling - Petra was my tour guide, she was incredibly knowledgeable about Iceland, and Icelandic culture. She was a very intuitive guide that took care of everybody, and played some lovely Icelandic music perfectly complimenting the scenic journey back after what was a very educational and active day. She made sure everyone had the regular breaks throughout the day and was kind enough to go the extra mile for people. I couldn't thank her enough for such a decent experience and I really wish her the very best on the rest of her journey. Mr.Biriah
