Highlights
  • Volcano Hekla - Hekla is one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes, and was for centuries believed to be the entrance to hell.
  • Víkurskáli - Here we stop at a local restaurant for a lunch break at your own expense.
  • Reynisfjara Beach - Stroll along the black sand and pebble beach of Reynisfjara. The beach features stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scattered with caves. You will be awed by the incredibly powerful waves of the Atlantic ocean crashing on to the shore. Offshore you will see the Reynisdrangar pillars, basalt rock stacks that rise from the sea.
  • Skogafoss - Visit Skogafoss waterfall. This is a picturesque 200-foot (60-meter) tall, broad and powerful waterfall, and due to its striking appearance it is frequently used in movies and commercials. You can get close enough to feel the spray from the falls on your face and, if you like, then climb a stairway leading to the top of the falls allowing you a view from above.
  • Volcano Eyjafjallajokull - A volcano / glacier, which gained worldwide attention in 2010 when the ash cloud from an eruption stopped all flight traffic in Europe.
  • Solheimajokull Glacier - Short stop by Solheimajokull, an outlet glacier of Myrdalsjokull glacier.
  • Seljalandsfoss - Seljalandsfoss is a unique waterfall in that you can actually walk behind it when the weather permits and experience the beauty of this waterfall in a completely new way.

Southern Iceland tour is a must! - Brilliant day - Karen was our your guide and apart from being an excellent driver, her commentary and sharing of local knowledge really added to the day. We highly recommend this tour, loved the Black Sand Beach especially, and really appreciated the amounts of time allocated to each stop - we never felt rushed.

Excellent tour and value for money - A 10-hour tour so you see plenty of this part of Iceland. From the various waterfalls, the beach and the glacier streaked with volcanic ash; all amazing. Our guide, Jon, was excellent. Thoroughly recommend this trip.

Amazing Tour - We have just recently been on the South Coast, waterfalls and black beach tour with Greyline and I can defo recommend. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the main bus hub where we joined our main tour group. The weather was awful but we had a fab time seeing the ever changing island of Iceland. Our guide Karen was amazing and gave us loads of information about the country she calls home and is clearly so passionate about.....and she had a fab sense of humour x

Good sight and experiences - Outstanding sights and experiences. We took a tour the day prior that had a fabulous tour guide. This one was adequate though I would state that he spent more time conversing with the driver rather than us.

Good guide/driver but long time on bus - Firstly please note that 1. We had done a half day coach tour AND the late night (unsuccessful) Northern Lights boat trip the previous day and 2. We are not great lovers of minibuses. Secondly, the driver/guide that we had once we had been selected to switch from a coach to a minibus was very good and we have no complaints about her and her positive style and the efforts she made. However, in our opinion there is a disproportionate amount of minibus time to sightseeing. That being said there is a great deal of ground to cover - maybe for us we’d be happy with less waterfalls or without the shopping outlet stop but better time planning with the extra time that gave. Maybe we should have bitten the bullet and hired a car to do it ourselves but overall we covered a lot of ground saw an amazing glacier an some pretty, if not necessarily impressive (especially the day after the Gullfoss falls on the Golden Circle tour!) waterfalls. The highlight of the tour for us was definitely the glacier which was truly impressive. Average for us, due in part to fatigue, but a good way to see a lot of things if you can offset that against probably 4 or 5 hours in a minibus/coach.
