Highlights
  • Panormitis Monastery - Symi island of the Dodecanese, Greece, is situated in southeast Aegean sea and northwest of Rhodes. While touring around the island you will see many churches and monasteries devoted to the Archangel Michael. The Greek Orthodox Monastery of Taxiarchis Mihail Panormitis is the most important on the island and second largest in the Dodecanese after the monastery of St John the Theologian in Patmos.

The monastery is located on the south end of Symi, situated on the seafront of the tiny village of Panormitis. It is a closed-in cove with a small sandy beach, protected by a narrow inlet that opens out into a wide harbour. The mountainous backdrop is covered with pine trees which give the area an ambiance of solitude.

Well done and easy! - Perfect! Free to do what you want. The time to visit the 2 spots was enough. Beautiful views during the trip to the coast and other islands.

An excellent excursion, with a stop to visit Panormitis Monastery and then three-and-a-half hours in Gialos - We booked our tour with Holidays Essential, and it was well organised and very enjoyable., and very good value for money. We sat on the upper deck of the Dodecanese Seaways ship, which affords splendid views, either in the sun or under cover in the heat of the day. Panormitis Monastery somehow manages to be peaceful despite the crowds of people, and Gialos is exceedingly pretty, with many harbour-side tavernas and cafes for lunch and ice cream. In both places we were free to wander where we wanted to, at our own speed. We were glad that we had booked an excursion that included the monastery A must-do excursion duriing a visit to Rhodes. Special thanks to Roula, in the booking office, who was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

Great trip - The trip was excellent. However, it only cost £40 for the boat. TripAdvisor charged over £80. Not sure what the rest of the money was for.

Scam from your operator at Rhodes - The excursion did not exist. And your company is not willing to refund our money back. The operator changed the travel terms without prior notice.
