Experience Latvian culinary culture on a food tour organized by Rigatrips, held at the biggest open-air marketplace in Europe. This tour offers an insight into local Latvian gastronomy, featuring an expanse of authentic local food items including meat, bread, cheese, fish, indigenous fermented vegetables, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and confectioneries.
- Cancellations - please be aware that we have minimum of 6 poeple per tour to run. If there will be not enough customers - a day before the tour we will offer you another day of tour or a compensation.
- Tour is available for vegeterians, as about 70% of the food samples will be available also for you plus an extra vegetarian offer in one of the places
- Latvian cuisine is based on meat and fish, so if you do not eat either of it, you can still participate in the tour as 60% of the food will still be possible for you to try.
- Not recommended for vegan travellers, as only 40% of the food on the tour is vegan friendly.

We will be waiting for you at the Grecinieku street in the Riga Old Town below the sign 18 with a green box and the official Riga Guide sign on the neck of the guide. It can happen, that the guide is 5 min late, as is coming from the previous Old Town tour.

Latvian flavours shine - An excellent slice of Latvian life at the market. Our host was friendly and informative aboutall aspectsof the markets day to day life and history. Plenty of tasters of a wide range of Latvian local foods. It also gave a flavour of the food culture for the locals in Riga.

Absolutely fantastic 😍 - This is the best local food tour you can do! I highly recommend! Food was awesome and Guna was the most amazing guide. She was so friendly and knowledgeable!

Excellent food tour! - Excellent food tour with our guide Ganu, she was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Riga and food! We had a lovely tour around the Central market with every possible imaginable tastings. Thank you for an excellent experience.

Great introduction to a fascinating locale - I love markets like this, but they can be overwhelming if you are in another country. Our guide showed us a lot, explained it all, and we had plenty of samples to eat and drink. We packed a lot into the tour, and it went very fast, but it did not feel rushed. Unfortunately, our guide had to leave at the end, and I never did catch her name......

Helpful staff in correcting my error! - When I overslept after a long transatlantic flight and missed the tour, the operator was very helpful in arranging for me to take the tour on another day. I really appreciated this. The building that holds years marketplace has a fascinating story!

Nice day in Riga - Quite alright with really nice people in our party. We just had A funny day with Ottersen in our party. Also we visited sone other views. In The end we had A smell time invthectop bar of Radisson.

Not sure this would be worth the money it was cancelled on us in any event - Had a message the day before the tour to say that it wasn’t going ahead and asking us to rebook on a date when we were actually leaving to come home. Have to say that we did visit the market on our own and had already been told by other travellers we admit that they believe the food tasting would be very limited and disappointing. Can only say having gone around the marketswe were somewhat relieved that their food tasting had been cancelled because at £42 each we are not sure what would’ve been included for that. Had some great tours on this holiday think this would probably have been the ones we would’ve least enjoyed and not great that if they don’t get fired at all they’re not prepared to walk around in any event
