Going with a guide makes a huge difference! - This tour was great! Our guide Agnes was great! This was one of the best tours of our trip! The Castel, is amazing! We saw other tourist struggling to wind their way around the gorgeous castle. The time wasted trying to figure it all out on your own can't be reclaimed. Go with a tour guide. If you can afford a private tour guide, great! But don't go alone! You'll miss so much!

Rain didn’t stop the tour - Our guide Serena was fantastic, friendly and full of information. The Castel was amazing. It rained before and during our tour but it didn’t dampen our experience.

So much history, very interesting, well worth it - Our tour guide Valeria was amazing. We signed up for a group tour but it turned out no one else signed up and we had a private tour! Valeria was incredibly knowledgeable about so much history regarding the Castel Sant'Angelo. So many details and interesting facts we wouldn't have learned about. It made the tour so interesting. 100x better than just wandering around on our own. Loved it!

So glad we didn’t miss this - I hadn’t been sure about adding this to our itinerary, but I’m so glad we booked this tour. By chance we planned this on our last day of our trip, which turned out to be perfect as the tour of this multi-leveled castle ties together many parts of Roman history, from ancient through the renaissance. It was great fun to look out at the amazing 360 views of the city from the terrace and spot all the places we have been through the week. Alec was a really engaging guide — the tour felt like a university lecture, in the best way. Our family learned a lot, and it really tied together what we have seen and learned at the other historic places in Rome. One thing to note — when I booked, I thought it was going to be an express one hour tour, but our tour was actually about two hours. If you need to be finished at a particular time, you may want to make sure of the length of the tour. As it turned out, the two hour time frame was fine for us. There is an option to have a drink in the lovely bar before heading back out into the city.

Very interesting - The history of Castel St Angelo’s was very interesting, our guide was very friendly & funny as well as informative.

Worthwhile but... - I previously visited this site with a friend and did the mobile-guided tour, which was fine and cheap, but when experiencing this guided tour with my wife I found I got a lot more information from it and a wider perspective. We had booked the express tour because we only had a short time free and didn't want to be spending too long here. However, on the day we found that we had been merged with a longer tour due to numbers and the tour was further prolonged due to some Italians booking the wrong tour. Credit to the guide for managing to do the tour in English and Italian at the same time, but the consequence of this was that it took much longer than it should have done. Although we could have left early, we would then have missed parts of the castle which would otherwise have been guided, so we were a little disappointed by this.

Great Tour Guide - The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. He was engaging and it was just a very enjoyable experience all around. He was top notch. The only negative was that the site appeared overbooked (I don’t think that was the fault of the tour operator) so there was a delay getting in. Since it was a pretty hot and sunny day that led to some frustrated folks.
