Highlights
  • Congregate at Termini Station and embark on a modern, fast train for an enchanting 1.5 hour journey to Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance and home of art legends such as Michelangelo, Dante Alighieri, Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Galileo Galilei.
  • Upon disembarking from the train you will be welcomed by your local guide who will guide you through Europe’s most captivating city. Over the span of a 2.5 hour walk, your guide will reveal the exuberance of Florence with its rich history, architectural marvels, and effervescent culture.

Your local guide will navigate you through renowned landmarks like Florence Duomo, Brunelleschi’s unmatched Dome, and the Baptistery of St. John, renowned for its celebrated ‘Gates of Paradise’. Subsequently, you’ll explore Piazza della Signoria, Florence’s political nucleus, which showcases a faithful replica of Michelangelo’s famed David statue. This bustling square is the location of Palazzo Vecchio, a medieval fortress that was repurposed as a town hall and displays exquisite Renaissance art and architecture.

As we continue towards the River Arno, we’ll amble past the Uffizi Museum and get a sight of the renowned Vasari Corridor.

  • Travel via Coach from Florence, journeying through the Chianti region to San Gimignano
  • Enjoy a charming ride and take a break while traveling through the immaculately kept hills of Tuscany to stop at an independent winery with views of San Gimignano’s medieval towers. Tour the vineyards and learn about the time-honored winemaking customs that have survived the test of time and are incorporated into the contemporary production of highly esteemed wines. Familiarize yourself with wine terminology like what the initials DOCG stand for and qualifications for a wine to be termed ‘Super-Tuscan’, while listening to the winemaker’s inspiring tale during a guided tasting of six wines, including the famed Vernaccia di San Gimignano and, naturally, a Chianti.

Every wine will come with a pairing of local charcuterie, cheeses, breads and, certainly, extra virgin olive oil produced on the premises. The wine and food pairing session will conclude with a first course.

  • The grand finale on this Tuscan escapade is a trip to the bewitching town of San Gimignano. Your guide will give you the freedom to admire the 14 surviving medieval towers, typical Tuscan cobblestone alleys, craft shops, and gelaterias.
  • Take a coach from San Gimignano to Florence Railway station for the return journey.

A Fine Day In The Country. - This was a fabulous trip and tour. Florence is an inspirational city and full of history. Antonio, our guide was full of stories and background knowledge of the city. He was very personable and helpful. If you enjoy wine and want to learn about wine making in Tuscany take advantage of the wine tasting and lunch add on. We had wonderful conversations with Antonio on our drive to Tuscany and learned even more about the area. This was a relaxing and wonderful part of our day! Well worth the trip- High speed train was also an experience.
