You should see it but not in High Summer. - I’m giving it 5 stars because Ida was very good and the tour is worth it. Caveat: I would advise never go in July (and I presume August). It was deathly hot. I had to bow out bc of the heat The rest of my group did it but were stunned by the extreme weather. Otherwise it’s an extraordinary place.

Right sized small group tour - Wonderful guided tour through two important archaeological sites and we were so fortunate to witness the latest excavations at Pompeii. Spectacular frescoes and artifacts being revealed for the first time in centuries. We loved our local guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. Lunch was good too. Transportation was comfortable and the group was only 10 of us so we did not miss any content.

Best daytrip we've done - excursion to Pompeii and Herculaneum from Rome, by ItaliaTours - We made an excursion to Pompeii and Herculaneum, leaving Rome by high-speed train to Naples. The company provided us with all the train tickets, one person from the company was in Rome Termini and stayed with us until we boarded. In Naples, our Guide Antonio received us at the station and spent the whole day with us, in Pompeii, Herculaneum, lunch, until boarding the train back to Rome. It was all perfect and special. Our Guide Antônio is passionate about archaeology, in addition to being a caring, friendly person. It was a pleasure to spend the day with Antônio. This excursion was amazing, it will forever remain in our memory.

Pompey, Lunch and Herculeum. Worth every penny and then some. - Right from the start, your associate at the train station was very effective in working through many issues. My lack of email with the train tickets was one of them. The associate quickly resolved that issue for me. The high speed train was so amazing. Never been on a train traveling 300Kmh. Ida our tour director was clear and knowledgeable.. Very personable and knowledgeable in every area of our tour. Many questions were asked and Ida always had an answer. The tour in Pompey and Herculeum were so fulfilling. Many new things to see and experience since our last visit 15 years ago. The lunch and staff in Napoli were outstanding! I mean that. The food absolutely delicious, drink plentiful , atmosphere truly relaxing, service and employees were polite and respectfully efficient.

Perfect tour - Amazing tour. Our guide was fantastic. He was from Pompeii and was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Lunch was amazing. I was worried it would be very touristy, but it was a quality experience.

Exceptional trip from start to finish - Absolutely perfect tour from booking all the way through. The tour guide was friendly and attentive throughout and lunch was exceptional (probably some of the best service I've ever had in a restaurant). Having a guide to take us through the highlights of both Pompeii and Herculaneum made the whole experience fascinating. Without her we would have wandered aimlessly and missed crucial parts of the history. Visiting both sights gave such a richness to the history and bought to life the way people lived until that fateful eruption. Each site tells the story in a slightly different way (no spoilers) but its really worth seeing both! Highly recommend this tour - our favourite of the holiday.

Great Tour - What an experience! So glad we booked this tour! Going to Pompeii and Hurculaneum on your own would be fun, but the knowledge we received from our guide Paola, was priceless! She was a walking encyclopedia! She was so fun and the sweetest, so she made our whole day great! Highly recommend her and this tour!

Worth the Day Trip - Our guide Paula was amazing and knowledgeable. We had a small group of 6 which added to the intimacy and close touch. Food at the lunch restaurant was 3/5, only downside of the journey. High speed train was great way to get there from Rome.

A step back in time - This trip was one of the highlights of our time in Italy. Our tour guide, Antonio. Was amazing and was so knowledgeable about Pompeii and it’s history. Lunch at the winery was also excellent- great foods and wines. The tour bus was very comfortable and having our train tickets sorted for us ahead of time made things very easy to navigate. Would recommend to anyone interested in the history of Pompeii
