Highlights
  • Polynesian Spa - Admission is for the day of booking, and is not limited to a particular time of the day.

Relax and unwind at Rotorua’s Polynesian Spa – a world-leading, natural mineral bathing and luxury spa retreat. Geothermal waters nourish the skin and relieve tired muscles, aches and pains, while decadent therapies rejuvenate through ancient and modern techniques. Combined with the healthy café, Polynesian Spa restores the body inside and out.

The world-leading natural hot mineral bathing and spa treatment facility was built on the site of historic bath houses for which the city first became world famous in the 1800s.

The Spa continues to evolve and focus on health and wellness, introducing passive and active bathing experiences for increased immunity and greater energy levels.

At Polynesian Spa, elements of early buildings and baths have been carefully retained and the site is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

This ticket provides access to the premium bathing area ‘The Deluxe Lake Spa’ which includes a range of mineral rock pools at various temperatures. Utilizing both alkaline and acidic mineral springs, the Deluxe Lake Spa is ultimate in geothermal bathing experiences.

The therapeutic waters at Polynesian Spa come from two different natural springs:

The Priest Spring is named after Father Mahoney, a Catholic Priest who was ‘cured’ of his crippling arthritis from bathing in the waters in 1878. The slightly acidic water from the Priest Spring relieves tired muscles, aches and pains.

The Rachel Spring is a source of alkaline water, which features the antiseptic action of sodium silicate nourishing the skin. It was historically said that those who bathe in the waters of the Rachel Spring are blessed with ageless beauty

The combination of these two types of mineral waters is only found at Polynesian Spa.

Wonderful! - Just wonderful. Kind of noisy at times with children and people talking loudly. Moderate crowd in the morning and more crowded in the afternoon.

Relaxation - It was a nice place to relax. I really liked the different pools. The view was nice and so were the heated loungers.

Serene and unique experience in a luxurious and natural setting! - I was very impressed with Polynesian Spa! I had a mud massage and bathing experience, and couldn't have been happier. They have all the special touches, it's laidback, clean, friendly, luxurious, but still beautiful and natural! Shout-out to my massage therapist Melanie, she was an absolute dream and an extremely intuitive and talented therapist, and warm person! Highly recommend!

Great experience! - Amazing thermal pools. We went at 9am, as soon as they opened. Since we chose the Deluxe option, towels and lockers were provided which was a nice touch. It was calm and quiet. Other guests started trickling a little later. Great experience. The thermal pools are definitely hot enough (sit around 36 to 41 Celsius) but I wish the cold plunge was a little bit colder.

Refreshing hot springs pool in a lovely setting - The private hot springs pool with a view of Lake Rotorua was amazing. After 30 minutes there, we still had access to the other pools at different temperatures and pH levels. A wonderful, refreshing and relaxing experience.

Awesome and highly recommended - I had a fabulous visit. It started with a hot soak in the amazing pools, and then an Aix massage, with a mango body scrub. So relaxing, but my masseuse dug in to my sore bits as well, which I wanted. You finish in a fluffy bath robe with a relaxing tea. A surprise was a juice voucher to use in the cafe on the way out, and it was freshly juiced - a bonus! I had a fantastic carrot, ginger and pineapple one. And I also could not resist a Kapiti Ice cream as well. Thanks to Shanil for my massage.

Great way to relax! - We started off in a private pool, and then moved to the private group pools. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. The locker rooms were so well maintained, clean and pleasant.

Delightful experience - We bought a multi day ticket for the Deluxe Spa which represents great value for money as it allows you a second visit within 7 days, perfect if you're staying in Rotorua for several nights. The deluxe pools are very quiet, plenty of space and felt tranquil. This option includes towels, lockers and toiletries in the showers. Also, it doesn't matter whether it's raining or the the sun is shining (we had both) when you visit as the experience is wonderful. The shop in the lobby is a great place to buy mud products - the face mask and scrub is incredible!

Relaxing in Luxury....or not? - Lovely time at Polynesian Spa today. We booked the luxury spa side to have some nice, quiet, relaxing. Majority of our experience was lovely, but I am hesitant to say that this side should be child free. There is a separate side for children to Splash around and yell etc.... There were children in our pools today, going under the water and kicking water everywhere, slightly ruined the relaxation experience. Overall the pools and view lovely.

Lovely experience - It was a very lovely experience. The therapist are fantastic. My only draw back is the price as it is quite an expensive day spa. Feedback, it would be nice for the day spa patrons to have exclusive access to a spa pool area.
