You’ll see the highlights of our jade gallery and then head to the studio to spend exclusive time with our artists, learning about the carving process and watching them work. After visiting the studio, you’ll get to choose and string a piece of New Zealand pounamu, turning it into a necklace to take home and treasure forever.

Tours are available at 10.00 am, Monday to Sunday. Infant ages are 0-2 years.

My Jade journey - I really enjoyed my time at Mountain Jade. Ariana is such a joy and her art work is so beautifully powerful. It was interesting to watch the artist create. I also enjoyed learning about the different types of Jade and some of the different Maori customs associated with the beautiful pieces. Thank you for a memorable experience.

A very interesting trip - Really enjoyable trip. Was nice to be able to choose a bit of green stone to take away. There was lots to choose from so you could get one that you connected with.

Carving demonstration - We visited Mountain Jade for the 30 minute tour which included the carving demo. Learnt a lot about all the different jades of the world. Carving demonstration included our own small piece of jade which is lovely. Thank you all for a most informative demo and talk.

Drifting on a wave of punamou.... - The different types of punamou on display and the perfect designs they have been carved into are essentially parr of an immersive experience. To meet one of the artists and to watch him at work was surreal. And to top It off, a lovely punamou pendant...🥰🥰

Really interesting tour - If you appreciate craftsmanship you will definitely appreciate this tour. It was interesting to learn about the types of jade and actually watch how the work is done to carve the stone! Many options to buy items too.

Mountain Jade Experience - Great tour @ Mountain Jade - History of Jade / Greenstone / Pounamu gave us an understanding of where it comes - Family history of Mountain Jade and how it was started -Awesome tour watching the process of creating a Toki then picking a pounamu to make into a necklace at the end was so touching. Beautiful array of Pounamu from talented artists all on display and to purchase.

Definitely worth doing - Great to see how the jewellery is made and hear about the stones. Makes it all have a lot more meaning. Making your own necklace which you can keep was a highlight. Inexpensive activity we would highly recommend.

Pounamu experience - Very informative talk at the start and end, good demonstration of knowledge about pounamu and we liked the little treat at the end with taking a keepsake home to gift etc. We would’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to do a little bit more hands on stuff.
