The most fun you can have in Rotorua - Zorb is officially the most fun you can have in Rotorua. Like a cross between a roller coaster and being in a very large washing machine. Loved it!

Think enclosed water slide but bouncier - Everything was as described, but nothing could prepare me for the headfirst dive into an inflatable ball with some warm water inside and then being rolled down a hill. The first time was a bit scary, as I ended up backwards so I couldn’t see where I was going and the water kept getting in my nose which made me panicked. But I went again with a plan to sit cross legged and it worked beautifully! We did the Two Track Combo - the straight track and the sidewinder. You can race another person down the hill on the straight track which is hilarious to watch. Then you jump in one of three hot tubs to warm up, and when you’re ready you head back up! The sidewinder was super fun, I was bouncing and rolling up the side hills of the track, but able to stay upright and centered. My boyfriend flailed around and loved it so it’s really up to you and how you roll (ha) I will say, it is expensive for what it is. And I wanted to do the same track multiple times but that’s not really an option unless you’re willing to drop another $65 on an additional one track. Overall, we had a great time, and I definitely recommend it as a unique must do of Rotorua!

Fun activity to try in Rotorua - This was a bucket list item for me and while it was definitely fun, it was different from what I expected. It goes by so quickly! My own lack of balance was my downfall. Would maybe recommend wearing goggles.

Fun but WAY overpriced and not family friendly - The ride itself is really fun (we did Sidewinder and Pipeline) but is over and done with very quickly. The price is outrageous considering how short the ride is. Also, choosing to ride together in one Zorb doesn’t save you any money, even though there is far less work involved for staff… So 3 people could each take their own Zorb (6 rides in total) for the same price as sharing (2 rides in total). We are a family of 5 with children aged 8, 5 and 1. Since a parent needed to stay with our youngest, we had hoped to purchase a 3 ride combo with each parent having one turn with the kids. On arrival we were informed that you couldn’t share as prices were “per rider”. Riders are then given a coloured wrist band to indicate which ride they are going on. This is purely a money making exercise - all that was required to allow both parents to have a turn was to complete an extra form at check in (basically just to cover Zorb in the case of any health events). So we ended up paying the same amount for the kids to do 2 rides and each parent to do one as it would have cost for 3x 3 ride combos ($375 later!!!). This was the most expensive activity we did in Rotorua and it was over and done with in about 15 minutes. I think a little more flexibility is required to make this more family friendly, like a family pass where parents can ride interchangeably... Or a discount if you ride together in the Zorb… Or at least include more, like complementary photos or coffee! The next day we received an email from Zorb inviting us to complete a review and return with cheaper prices for our second visit. Why not just offer these prices in the first place?!!! We won’t be returning.

A Great Experience - We've all come across Zorbing in our online explorations and New Zealand advertisements, so it felt like a must-try activity. We booked our experience through Viator for two runs, not quite knowing what to expect but eager to give it a shot. Upon arrival, we checked in and filled out consent forms before receiving wristbands indicating our chosen runs: the basic straight track and the thrilling zig-zag descent. After changing into our gear, we took a moment to warm up in the hot tubs at the bottom before boarding the van to the starting gates. My wife and I eagerly hopped into the first ball together, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty as we were sealed inside and pushed over the edge. The ride was undeniably thrilling, but we couldn't help but wonder what could enhance the experience. Exiting the ball felt like a rebirth as we emerged, drenched in water. With no rush to return to the top, we indulged in another soak in the hot tub, discussing our next run. The boys, keen for more excitement, opted for additional runs, unlocking access to all four tracks: straight, zig-zag, circular, and the exhilarating steep hill. The latter was a unanimous favorite, promising a near-freefall experience at top speed. Meanwhile, my wife and I savored the leisurely pace, soaking up the sun and the spectacle of watching the boys' descents before embarking on our second run. The zig-zag track proved to be the highlight for us, despite the challenge of staying upright as we were tossed about inside the ball. Overall, we found the experience to be enjoyable, though perhaps a tad pricey for what it offers. Wearing a shirt inside the Zorb is advisable to prevent any discomfort from the seams. The hot tubs provided a welcome relaxation spot while waiting for our turn. If budget isn't a concern and you've always harbored curiosity about rolling down a hill in a giant ball, it's certainly worth a try. However, having checked it off our bucket list, we don't feel compelled to repeat the experience.
