Highlights

Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van (15 km or 6.5 hours)

Y Linh Ho - The tour starts at 9 am. Our local guide will meet you at your hotel in Sapa Town or in front of the local main church. After a brief introduction, you will be taken 2km down to Cat Cat’s road, a well-known village of the Hmong minority. From there, you will be reaching the hanging bridge of Muong Hoa river and then continue uphill into the mountains and through a bamboo forest. From there, you will get the chance to admire some of the biggest and most beautiful rice terraces in Vietnam as well as enjoy the majestic mountain view on top of the Hoang Lien Son mountain. You will then head down to Y Linh Ho village and have lunch at a small, traditional restaurant ran by a local Hmong family

Ta Van Village - From there, you will get the chance to admire some of the biggest and most beautiful rice terraces in Vietnam as well as enjoy the majestic mountain view on top of the Hoang Lien mountain.

Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Ban Ho (12 km or 5 hours)

Giang Ta Chai Village - After breakfast, you will be retaken uphill into the mountain till the waterfalls of Giang Ta Chai. You will then enter the Red Dao area where, together with your local guide, you will learn more in detail about their culture and daily life. After a short visit at a Red Dao family, you will then head back to the waterfalls by taking an alternative trail and across a second hanging bridge. You will then have your lunch in Giang Ta Chai village at a small, local restaurant run by a Hmong family.

Ban Ho – Nam Tong – My Son – Thanh Phu (3km around 6 hours)

Ban Ho Village - After an excellent breakfast in Ban Ho, we continue walking to the village Nam Toong, about 3km from Ban Ho. In this village, you can learn everything about the Red Dzao minority that lives here. The Red Dzao are famous for the red scarfs they wear on their heads. We will then follow a buffalo trail through sprawling rice terraces, taking in the spectacular views of Hoang Lien National Park as we make our way to My Son village

Thanh Phu – Ban Ho – Sapa (6km around 4 hours)

Ban Ho Village - We will start Day 4 with a filling breakfast, after which we walk from Thanh Phu back to Ban Ho by a different route, following the Muong Hoa River. It is an easy but beautiful route to wind down from the last three days, and it will give you the chance to absorb as much of the remaining scenery as possible. There will also be a chance to swim in the river if the weather is good (or even if it’s not if you are brave!).

Great tour with a great guide - What a unique experience walking through the rice fields and the local mountain villages! Even though the weather didn’t really favor us (lots and lots of fog and rain), we still really enjoyed our trip. Being May it was mostly planting season for the rice, meaning they were mostly green or just filled with water that reflected the light quite nicely. Since it was raining quite a bit, some parts of the trek was very muddy and slippery, making the path rather difficult. Frankly, during rainy season it’s better to rent rubber boots (you can do it at their office before starting the trek - 2 USD/day), note, however, that the maximum size is 44 which is the equivalent of 42/43 EU. Our guide “So” did an amazing job leading us and explaining local nature and culture, not to mention that he is a genuinely nice and funny person. We really did have fun with him :) The homestays were great and the families were very welcoming. This tour is highly recommended and we would do it again in a heartbeat, perhaps during harvest season (end of Aug, Sep), although it’s much busier that time. In May we hardly met any tourists.

Amazing hiking tour! - Amazing trekking tour! Our tour guide Tung was extremely helpful and always went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great time. She was highly knowledgeable about the local cultures and langages. She pointed out many plants and their traditional uses. Tung is the best! Our homestays were quaint and always had everything we needed. The views during the hikes are beautiful- just as described in the description. Thanks for an amazing time! :)

Sapa 4 day trekk - Awesome 4 day trekk with very knowledgeable guide Chu. Plenty if food to fuel the body at clean and helpful homestays.....guide made the trip flexible which was so helpful... hiking is moderate level so fitness is required... bit slippery down hill when wet. Recommend walking staff and umbrella 😅 had a great time . Awesome way to explore these hills and valleys....bring swimmers for the waterways

Amazing trek, even better guide - Sang was an amazing guide with extensive knowledge and experience about the trek. The views are also gorgeous. If you book this tour you're also going to see more of the local ethnic groups without feeling like they're playing dress up to sell you something. As a solo traveller I also appreciated that the trek was never lonely or boring, Sang was great at english and funny at that. She also is from the local Hmong ethnic group and thus always has something interesting to tell about the very unique culture you're going to witness here. You have to know that this trek is pretty challenging for people who aren't used to muddy and slippery ground, but anyone can finish it with enough willpower. Though I wouldn't recommend this for older people or those with limited mobility. The only thing that I could say was a downside, is the communication before the tour. But if you reach out yourself that is a non-issue.

Worth the money - Amazing experience! For sure this trek is the highlight of our trip in Vietnam. Xaï, our guide, took great care of us. First day, we saw some local villages and the stunning rice fields. We have slept in a beautiful homestay, the owner was welcoming, the food was excellent and the bedroom comfy and clean (we even had wifi). On the second day, we went more in the mountains by walking in a bamboo forest and we got lucky to have a foggy day we got some nice unique photos. The homestay was more basic because it's more deep in Sapa, but, again, the family was really nice, the food was great and the beds good, a little bit hard, but when you are tired as us after a 20km trek, you are gonna sleep well. The third day was really hot, but we had the chance to walk in the ricefield and cross path with buffalo and local farmers. We choose to come back to the same homestay as the second day. For the last day, we decide skip the hike of 8km because of the risk of rain (we didn't have anything waterproof and we had a camera and a laptop) I said it was the highlight of our trip in Vietnam, but I would say I was the highlight of our 3 month travel in India, Philippines and Vietnam. I really recommend to take this tour to anyone!

A must see trip - The trek was amazing ! Chu was an incredible guide, so kind and a hearth warming presence. She taught us many things about Vietnamese culture along the way. The landscapes are astonishing, April isn’t the best season since rice isn’t planted everywhere but still this is a must see, I definitely recommend the experience, we did the 4 days 3 nights trip and every moment was worth it.

Amazing tour! - Did a 4 day 3 night private tour. It was just the best experience ever! The scenery was incredible and it was such a great opportunity to stay at 3 different homestays who were all so welcoming! It said 'non touristic' and this turned out to be so true. Can't recommend enough!

Go before it’s too late! - I thoroughly enjoyed my trek with Zhu as my Guide. She was passionate about the area, often stopping to point out places of interest and local customs. one day when it was apparent that we would not get lunch until 2 pm she arranged for her husband to bring us a tasty snack. Itis definitely the people and the homestay experience, which makes this trek Special, the hospitality in homestays was superb and the food plentiful and delicious. It was lovely to spend time with the families. Unfortunately the trekking itself is marred slightly by the road. However, I understand that this represents progress.,
