Additional Information

Tung Yee Peng Village, a quaint settlement on the East shore of Koh Lanta, prides itself on the expansive mangroves that rival the island in size. A welcoming bridge at the waterfront leads to a concrete path that meanders through the mangroves. The intricate roots of the mangroves form a serene and safe habitat for aquatic creatures such as fishes, crabs, oysters, lobsters, and shrimps. Besides serving as a refuge for reptiles, mammals, and avifauna, the forest helps protect the shoreline from erosion. Taking a day out for paddling is a rewarding experience, offering sightings of monkeys, monitor lizards, and a host of other colorful birds. This tranquil eco-system lends an atmosphere of peace, with the water maintaining a calm lake-like demeanor even in adverse weather.

Great Experience - We had a great experience with our guide, Sing. I am in a wheelchair and he handled it like a pro and was incredibly helpful. He pointed out crabs and explained things well. Our kids especially loved the monkeys hopping into our boats. Warning: If you drive yourself, at the entrance to the park, there is a con-man who will try to stop you and get you to pay him, so just drive on past him until you get to the park and see the wooden bridge.

Disappointing kayak tour - 1. pick up was time consuming. We had to pick up two more people who booked a private tour. They still had breakfast when we arrived at there Hotel and we waited 15 minutes in the sun. 2. we booked kayak in the mangrove forest. On arrival we had to do a 90 minutes stupid long tail boat tour to drive to some island where we did not leave the boat. This is not listed in the tour description. Then the guides found out that we did not full day tour and we retourniert to pier. Ok between we had to change boats on the oceans. 3. nobody talked to us about what is going on. Nobody did speak a word of English. Tour description says different. 4. tour description says that all fees are included. On arrival we had to pay an entrance fee. 5. restaurant was not super nice. We opted for take away food. Food was basic fried rice, but tasted ok. 6. return transport back was again chaotic. For last 2km we had to change taxis, no idea why. Nobody talked to us. We simply wanted to do kayaking in the mangrove forest. Kayaking lasted 30 minutes. We visited some apes that jumped on the boat. We only stayed in the big river. All together we can not recommend this trip if you want to go kajaking. Tour guide was nice and fun. Organisation and management was a total mess.
