Additional Information

Kick off your day with an enlightening trail led by a guide at 10 in the morning. Reserve your spot on the educational expedition handled by the proprietor of Salem Walking Tours, Kenneth Glover. This tour has a commercial touch but prospers through its sincerity. In contrast to the many ghost-focused tours in Salem, Kenneth proffers a delightful and impeccably organized history walk. The journey commences with an overview of Naumkeag, an erstwhile habitation of the Massachusett tribe and a colonial English fishing plantation. Delve into the life of Salem’s Puritans, grasp their customs, and gain insights into the infamous Witch Trials. Explore a coastal settlement and its role in the American Revolution. Stand in the middle of a defiance-fueled town, which served as the hub of North American spice trade.

The tour is unveiled in a charismatic storytelling format brimming with authenticity. Kenneth makes use of quotes, personal stories, discussions, compelling facts, and native ballads to narrate history. The panoramic lanes and historic structures of the McIntire district and Downtown Salem provide the perfect setting for this tour, as they have been silent spectators to the legends Kenneth narrates.

  • This tour covers the history of Salem, Massachusetts. It’s not a tour whose only subject is the Salem Witch Trials.
  • We do not enter buildings on the tour.
  • I recommend using the MBTA for weekend visits in October. Demand for parking often outstrips its availability and causes significant traffic delays. Parking information at Salem.org
  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are great days to visit Salem in September and October to avoid crowds.
  • The tour is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
  • The tour is conducted in all seasonal weather, including rain and cold. Dress accordingly.
  • Tour gathers 15 minutes prior to departure. Tour begins promptly.

Best part of Salem, this tour - Highly recommend Kenneth! He was shared his knowledge in a way that was enjoyable for us as parents and my teenage son. He was also a very kind and compassionate person, not important for the tour, but it's wonderful to support people that care about the community and world.

World’s Best Tour Guide - Sinister Stories of Salem with Kenneth Dike-Glover is hands-down the best tour you will ever experience. He is extremely knowledgeable, a great storyteller, and an impressive singer. All of that aside, Kenneth is, above all, kind and a genuinely good person. You will learn so much. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

We couldn't have asked for a better tour or guide!! - Kenneth was extremely knowledgeable and managed to share that knowledge while keeping the conversation casual, engaging and surprisingly entertaining. We especially appreciated his attention to the facts versus fiction and the of the overall relevance of the specific points in history to the larger aspects of both European and American history. Lastly, and so unexpected, what a singing voice! On a cold, dusky evening, his voice filled the garden with vibrant color while he shared, a capella, a 15th century Dutch hymn. The time was well spent and very enjoyable.

Highly recommend! - This tour is a special gem not to be missed! Kenneth is a gifted storyteller, performer and all around fabulous guide. He is witty and well versed in the history of not only Salem but why what was happening in Salem beyond the witch trials was significant to the future of our country. Don’t worry, there’s plenty to hear about the witch trials too! But there is so much more to Salem’s history than that, and Kenneth makes the ghosts and buildings of Salem come alive by weaving interesting stories about the people and happenings of that time with his own stories of Salem in the present. This tour has a bit of everything and Kenneth does a fine job of tailoring the tour to the interests of the group. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and can not recommend enough!

Educational, entertaining, and well worth the money! - Most memorable moment during the tour was in the Ropes Mansion Garden when Kenneth, our tour guide, sang a psalms prayer. We were all in awe of the moment and other folks nearby just stopped and listened. It was calming and spiritual at the very least. God bless him and his talent🙏

A Gift to all who go on this walk! - it’s hard to pick a favorite moment from Ken’s tour- too many! although- his song at the end was beautiful! Ken’s presentation of Salem’s history- the people who founded the area and how it came to be what it is today was so interesting and from the heart- showing compassion for those he spoke about and their place in time. my group’s age range was 12-62- and every one of us listened intently for 2 1/2 hours on a very rainy day and could have stayed for more! Ken has a wonderful way of sharing the good and the bad -also the very amusing history of the people that came before! His knowledge was endless - i encourage everyone that visits Salem and has the opportunity to take ‘a walk’ with Ken Glover to put it at the TOP of their must do list! Besides being a incredibly knowledgeable on a wide range of topics- he is kind and compassionate and everyone can use someone like him in their lives- even if for only 2 1/2 hours!
