Great Experience Traveling to the Top of the Eagle's Nest - Great experience! Walter was an outstanding guide and gave us good points about the history of the area and the Eagle's Nest. He kept us on time and nobody missed any of the buses given the complex logistics involved to get to the Eagle's Nest. Unfortunately, we got rain and cloud cover at the top and missed out on some great views and pictures. No fault of the tour operator.

Really enjoyable! Werner is a great guide! - I went as a solo (American) female traveler and met another solo traveler (from the UK) so we ended up doing this together as we started chatting and hit it off. I mention this only because I would encourage solo travelers to go and to chat with other solo travelers or even just people who seem friendly. Usually everyone on these types of tours is very inclusive and happy to make new friends. It was a really fun day. Werner was an amazing guide--really funny with a bit of an Australian accent. The trip leaves a point in Salzburg that is easy to find (not always the case with day trips) and we took a bus up to the Eagle's nest. The views on the bus are amazing. When we discovered that the trip didn't include Konigsee (for some reason we both thought it was doing a quick stop there) we asked Werner if it was easy to get to as we wanted to do that, rather than return to Salzburg. It was a hot day and we wanted to head to a lake for the afternoon, not return to Salzburg. It turns out there is a bus in the town of Berchtesgaden (where the tour ends for people to grab a bite to eat) that went to Konigsee, just a few minutes away from the town. So we did that. It was maybe 2 euros to Konigsee via the bus. Then we caught the bus back to Salzburg, which was also very easy to do, and was maybe 6 euros pp. It was, however, insanely hot on the bus. Would highly recommend this company and this day trip. A lot of history up at the Eagle's nest and while we didn't have time to do the Documentation Center they do have a wall with photos and explanations of who used which room for what (for example, the view's from Eva Braun's tearoom are amazing. You don't get to say that every day). But even if you don't care about WWII the views alone are amazing. Restaurant at the top has all kinds of tasty Austrian/German things to eat and drink. Not much else to do at the very top--we thought we could dash over to the Documentation Center, based on other reviews, but you can't. But again, you will have about an hour to eat down in the town or maybe pop into the Center if you want. I believe the Center is close to where we ate. But as we went to the lake instead, I can't be positive, so maybe check with your guide before you get too into the day if you want to try to see the Center and maybe he/she will have some suggestions.

May be come back later - Nice trip. We are not lucky with the weather. The foggy everywhere around the Eagle Nets so we didn't see any mountains around.

Beautiful views, little bit of history - Well organized, relaxing tour. Beautiful views, some of the history. Less history than we had thought. Recommend going to area where the documents are stored, if you want a deeper history tour. This tour does not include this museum.

Informative and interesting - Very informative, was great to be able to skip the long lines of people waiting to buy tickets and get into the venue. Downside was having time restraints, as we could have spent so much more time exploring at the top and also in the areas where the bus stopped.

Not enough time at the site - Great view, smooth drive and very pleasant guide. They even waited for me after I was a few minutes late. Unfortunately You get only 45 minutes at the site itself.

Know what you in for ! - The recap and information about this tour is not totally accurate. The tour is not limited to fifty people. We had seventy-seven on ours. We were rushed and herded around as a result. You also do not need your passport. The Eagle’s nest itself is unimpressive. It consists of a few rooms and a restaurant. There is a tremendous view from its location and that would be the true reason you would consider going. There is a lot of waiting around on this tour. You wait for crowded buses and then are herded like cattle in an elevator. The second stop on the way home is to have lunch in a nice town. It's nice but not worth it. Positives were the guide Peter and drive Evo. Both individuals were great. Peter is an exceptional source of knowledge and has great skills in managing the huge number of people assigned to him.
