Great but limited experience. - Hallstatt was beautiful. Only problem was if you want to visit the salt mine you have to take the full day Hallstatt tour due to time limitations. We were very disappointed that this was not conveyed to us when scheduling. SOM was excellent. Guides were great for both.

Breathtaking beauty and musical nostalgia in one package! - Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, absolutely worth a visit. Only thing is I wish we had a bit more time to visit the skywalk too. The option to book that in advance as part of this tour would be great. The sound of music tour was great mainly due to Mitch and his stories, he’s an amazing tour guide!

The scenery was beautiful... - The scenery was beautiful and we loved our guide named Kylee from Australia. Unfortunately many of the little shops and restaurants were closed so there wasn’t much to do.

Most beautiful village - Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful village that I've seen. It's definitely worth a visit! Please note that the weather changes fast. Bring an umbrella even if there is no rain in the forecast. The sound of music tour is good, but it assumes that you know the movie very well. I would recommend watching it again before taking the tour. Combining the 2 tours saved some money but there was some overlapping. They also didn't really plan for a lunch break, so bring a lunch if you get hungry easily otherwise you will have to use up the time allowed to visit hallstatt. Both tour guides we quite upbeat, especially in comparison to other tours we took in Austria.

Good experience although it can get hectic! - Good experience overall although it can get hectic & one place is repeated in the two tours. It's two tours combined into one! Hallstatt is a must do place - is beautiful! We stopped over at a lake en route - which was picturesque! The second Half of the tour ie Sound of Music, was made lively due to the energy of the guide, Mitch, ably supported by the driver Little Draga. It's a tour where they take you to some of the popular places where they shot the movie. But some places you can't go near, since they are now privately owned! Overall had fun.

Terrible tour planning - This is a terribly planned tour. Most of the sound of music (SOM) stops are on the way to Hallstatt. These two components of the tour can be seamlessly combined in one round trip from Salzburg. Instead, the operator sent us to Hallstatt in one bus, returned us to the bus station where we boarded another bus to travel most of the same morning route to SOM sites. This redundancy wasted three to four hours of bus time with no added benefit. This time could have been used to allow us to visit the salt mines in Hallstatt and the background hills of the SOM songs which we could not do because of lack of time. The second bus had a poor air condition system that kept us sweaty most of the afternoon and did not have a bathroom like the morning bus. Tour guides were pleasant which is the only reason I am giving this tour two stars.
