Best Museum in San Francisco - Great SF Museum. This museum has great special exhibitions. Every-time I come. This time it was the Fashion of San Francisco. Famous dress designers had beautiful assortments of dresses on display on mannequins. The rest of the galleries have art works and artifacts from all over. It’s in Golden Gate and will worth it. I am a member which is great to get in anytime. It’s easy to Uber to the location. It’s my fav besides Legion of Honor.

A Great Museum That Needs to be on your Must Visit List! - The de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park is ( in my opinion) a tourist attraction that you should put on your “ must visit” list. Whenever we plan a trip to San Francisco, we include a visit to this spectacular museum. Today in addition to paying for our general admission, we paid extra to see the Irving Penn exhibition, which was well worth the price! The museum has some very classy features including an observation deck with phenomenal views of the park and the city of San Francisco. They have a great cafe with delicious menus and all of their restrooms have fresh flowers, which adds wonderful fragrances while washing your hands!

Art, America, San Francisco - An essential stop if you visit the city, a museum that enters into the history of San Francisco and its American soul through art. In addition to the already magnificent museum itself, the collections of American art and modern art are very beautiful, as are the temporary exhibitions. Also actively participate in the artists' proposals in their exhibitions, even if you struggle with modern art, as it will make your visit unique. If you are looking for a hit and run then forget it, but if you want to understand the soul of the city and the USA through art you cannot miss this visit.

Good mix of classic ethno art … - ... and modern exhibitions and also modern (pop) art works. There is a large section for African art as well as works by Edward Hopper and Andy Warhol. The works of American painters from the time of the Civil War and before are very interesting. For example, you learn that there were already parties in the USA at that time that were in favor of a strict isolation of the country because of the "uncontrolled influx of people" from abroad. That was 150 years ago, when there were just over 30 million people living in the whole of the USA, 3 million of whom were slaves. The entrance fee is not cheap at $38 for access to all exhibitions, but it is reasonable.

Value depends on the special exhibit - Whether to go to this museum really depends on the special exhibit. The regular works weren’t really interesting compared to what you can see in LA, New York, London or Paris. We were interested in the fashion special exhibit, which was small but interesting. I’m not sure if it was worth the admission price, but we didn’t regret the visit or time.

Lost Money Because I was unable to cancel even though I was within the allowed time frame - Unfortunately, I was unable to go to my event because I was sick. That wasn't TripAdvisor's fault. The problem occurred when I tried to cancel my event. I was able to do that up to 24 hours before the event. However, because I had bought the tickets as a guest (I didn't realize that I had an account) TripAdvisor did not have a way for me to cancel. I tried going through the Museum but they did not recognize either of the confirmation numbers that were provided. If I had signed in prior to purchasing the tickets presumably, I would have been able to cancel through my account. I say presumably because there is no way for me to know whether that's true. However, regardless of how I made the purchase, I should have had some way to cancel. Not a whole lot of money but it ended up being wasted none the less. So, No, it was not a good experience.

Taken - Museum was great but Tuesday was a free day at the museum. First Tuesday of the month is free admission. We paid admission through this site and feel like we were taken advantage of so we paid for the museum of a free day no refund option.
