Additional Information

For a tranquil sea experience, jump on the Privateer, an authentic antique sailboat, for a semi-personal 90-minute journey of the bay, accompanied with beer and wine. This beauty, a twin-masted, teak-decked, bronze-fitted marvel, accommodates more than 28 travelers but has been reduced to only 16 amidst the pandemic to ensure you enjoy ample personal service from the capable and hospitable team. The Privateer glides across to Alcatraz and Angel Island, drifts by the quaint and scenic Sausalito, lines up with the grand Golden Gate Bridge and cruises past the iconic San Francisco skyline on its route back to Pier 39.

  • If you plan on drinking alcohol, please remember to bring your valid government-issued 21+ ID.
  • We reserve the right to make the final decision as to whether your tour will be cancelled. Tours will only be cancelled in the event of hard rain or unsafe conditions at the time of the tour.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather. It does tend to be colder out on the water, so we highly recommend layers and close-toed shoes.

Going again - We had an excellent time. Service was awesome and the ride was perfect! Would highly recommended. Waves were choppy but the boat was smooth!

Real sailing, not on a motoring boat! - There was a very stiff wind the time we went out and we couldn’t go as far as the Golden Gate Bridge, but we got to go past Alcatraz and then all the way around it and then back to the Baybridge and then all along the city skyline from there. It was a fun and unique experience being on a sailing ship where the motor was used only it’s for the initial part to get out of the harbor. The open bay was sailing and very exciting. The first mate was prompt with bringing us our drinks and even offering seconds.

Great experience - Great experience on a beautiful day. Sailing a much better experience than a large, powered boat as it was quieter and more interesting. Knowledgeable and friendly crew. Beverages only ok, but that's not the point of the cruise.

Sailing San Francisco Bay - My wife and I had a great time sailing the bay with the crew with San Francisco Sailing Company. I would recommend booking a sailing trip with these guys. We had a great time.

Nice ride on The Bay - Caleb and A______ deftly guided our small group on a relaxing and very enjoyable sail. It was fun to see places around the Bay from the middle of the water.

Slow sail - Nice trip, but slow. We would have enjoyed using both sails. The people were nice, though. It is good to have the spare jackets and blankets.

Waste of $100 - Wouldn’t waste my money on it again. Didn’t even get close to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was extremely foggy which I get but the only thing the captain said the WHOLE time was, “in my 40 something years I’ve done this only one time has July 4th been clear with no clouds.” That’s it. He didn’t talk to us about what we were seeing, it was quiet the whole time. Wasn’t impressed for $100 price tag. Was told they were giving us a deal because it was a pretty empty charter, only to get on the boat and it was so full we had to sit up front with a bar under our legs that was quite uncomfortable for an hours and a half. I would definitely take the one that looked more like a ferry than the sailboat tour again.
