Highlights
  • Las Paylas - Las Paylas is a local hidden gem of natural water slides on the outskirts of El Yunque with cascading waterfalls from the Mameyes River, sculpted natural pools, and a cave.

Perfect for thrill-seekers as well as those who want to enjoy the ambiance from afar. Experience cliff diving into natural pools or simply unwind by the water’s edge.

  • Angelito Trail - Explore the El Angelito Trail, a picturesque route in the El Yunque Rainforest. Descending through Tabonuco trees in the lower montane forest, the trail leads to the federally designated “Wild and Scenic River,” Río Mameyes. The sound of rushing water guides you to Las Damas Pool and other inviting swimming spots. Ideal for families and school groups, this trail offers an accessible adventure. Despite damage post-Hurricane Maria, restoration efforts, including a new pedestrian bridge funded by the National Forest Foundation and Wyndham Rio Mar Grand Resort, ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, allowing visitors to reconnect with nature and Puerto Rico’s ecological wonders.
  • Playa Luquillo - Kick back the rest of the afternoon with a refreshment sunbathing at the beach or dive into more adventure by renting out a jetski. Watch the sunset and reflect on your most memorable day in paradise.
  • Kioskos de Luquillo - Next, we embark on a culinary adventure at Los Kioskos de Luquillo. This vibrant strip of beachfront stalls immerses you in Puerto Rico’s diverse gastronomy. Each kiosk presents a unique flavor, from sizzling meats to traditional mofongo and refreshing tropical cocktails. Enjoy your meal with an ambiance full of live music, the warmth of locals, and Puerto Rican culture.

Yatzel ROCKS! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - This was an AMAZING experience! Yatzel has a genuine passion for showing everyone how beautiful this island is. I was lucky enough to be the only tourist on schedule that day! We started the tour at the waterfall slides: one advanced slide and one easier. He carefully instructed me how to safely slide down and took videos of me sliding. Safety is paramount for him, especially when climbing the slippery rocks. Then we went to the Angelito Trail. This was my *first* favorite part. The lake at this trail was so peaceful and calm. There was plenty of space to swim and take beautiful photos with the majestic scenery. (Yatzel is always willing to take the photos.) I could’ve stayed there all day. It rained on and off that morning, but it’s a rainforest, and that added to the magic. Next, we went to the Luquillo kiosks, my *second* favorite part. There are dozens of restaurants to choose from, so we chose one of his favorites. Yatzel offers suggestions and I went with the sweet plantain stuffed with shrimp and skirt steak. It was such a generous amount of food for only $15! The food was delicious and flavorful. I chose not to step over to the beach as I was exhausted from the water fun earlier. I highly recommend this tour to EVERYONE! I will do it again when I return for another trip. My *third* favorite part was cuddling his adorable chihuahua, Loofy :)

Best day(s) ever! - What a marvelous personalized experience! Nothing like a local who is both personal and a hugely personable tour guide! We wanted a tour where we could really experience Puerto Rico. We saw local beaches, water slides, and wonderful food! It was like if your best friend lived in Puerto Rico and you went for a visit! We enjoyed our first day so much we did another day and let our guide choose where we should go. Just outstanding! Our whole family (2x 20 year old girls and their parents) really enjoyed themselves.

El Yunque the experience of a life time! - Yatzel is an excellent tour guide. He took the time to pick us up from our hotel and drove us around Puerto Rico, sharing insights about the rich culture the island has to offer. Our experience at El Yunque was unparalleled. He guided us to three of El Yunque's water slides and taught us the importance of staying safe while navigating the rainforest. Afterwards, he took us to a local restaurant that served traditional Puerto Rican food. He was kind enough to drive us back to our hotel at the end of the day. All in all, I would definitely book Yatzel again for our next trip to Puerto Rico.

5 stars!! - Yatzel was the best tour guide! He’s so friendly, knowledgeable and fun. We were in PR for a girls trip and experiencing the rainforest was on our list. Love the small group setting…it makes such a big difference in your experience. We really appreciated avoiding the big crowds. It was raining on and off while we hiked, so he was really good about checking conditions of the slides. We felt very safe. He was great about taking lots of pictures for us too. At the end, He had a great recommendation for Mofongo, which we all wanted to try. It was delicious! I would definitely recommend booking a tour with Yatzel!!

Great Experience - We had a wonderful experience with this tour guide. We got there early enough to beat the crowd which made the experience even better. The tour guide was able to take his time with my family showing them the proper technique when jumping off the rocks, swinging on the ropes and coming down the two waterfalls. Make sure to bring water shoes and socks this will be helpful when climbing on the slippery rocks. After visiting the rainforest he will take you to the beach were you will enjoy good food with a view of the beach.

Highly recommend! - My husband and I did this tour with Yatzel and it did NOT disappoint. We only had one full day in Puerto Rico and we loved spending most of it on this tour. He got us out into El Yunque early, which was super smart because we practically had it to ourselves! He also knew exactly where to snap the best photos and happily offered to take them of us. Highly recommend this tour for couples and small friend groups, but I can imagine he would be wonderful with children, too! Safety was a top priority for him at all times. He also had loads of great suggestions for food to try at the Luquillo kiosks and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch together with him.

Amazing El Yunque Tour - This tour was absolutely amazing, Yatzel was an excellent tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly and safety conscious! He showed us great spots and took us when it was not as crowded as normal so we had the space to ourselves. It was also nice having a small group as it was very personalized. The best tour in PR - This tour was the highlight of our trip. Yatzel was so knowledgeable and helpful with all his tips on how to climb and swim in the river. Plus telling us about PR culture. Swimming and sliding in the river was unforgettable. We had the most amazing time with him. He took us to a restaurant after our adventure which was true PR food and was out of this world. I can’t thank him enough for making our trip so joyful.
