Additional Information

It’s a barren land, a testament to a unique geological formation. Our forefathers named it Las Salinas, but nowadays, it is globally recognized as Valle de la Luna, encircled with distinctively beautiful landscapes that bear a striking similarity to a small piece of the lunar surface, hence the name. In 1982, it was categorized as a Nature Sanctuary, forming a part of Los Flamencos National Reserve where an incredible geological display can be witnessed particularly during sunrise and sunset.

During your trip, you can marvel at: the iconic natural structure once referred by our ancestors as Los Tres Watchmen, now referred to as Las Tres Marías, Duna Mayor, a sprawling mound of sand, and viewpoints like; Quebrada Honda which houses the renowned Piedra del Coyote (Mirador de Ckari).

Approximate altitude is 2,407 masl.

Valle de la Luna tour - I recommend this tour and especially our great guide Daniela C.! Speaking there languages Daniela told us a lot and could answer all of the group questions. The group was approx. 14 people. We did there stops in the Valle de la Luna park and then had a snack on the Mirador Likan-Antay to watch the sunset.

It’s like visiting the moon! - We had a very enjoyable day trip with this tour group. Our driver and guide was Daniel and he did an excellent job of narrating the tour in multiple languages! He had interesting stories on each of the stops and helped us find the best places to view each location. The company gave us clear instructions on meeting the tour bus and kept us informed about any changes.

Very nice experience - During the day, you could go on your own (20min by bike), but if you want to see the sunset there, this is the perfect solution.

Bring lots of sunscreen. - This tour is one of the closest to San Pedro. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is best seen a few days after the rain. Why? Well the salts in the soil re-crystallize, making the area look as if covered in snow. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. Take the later tours so you can get a chance to see the sun set. The way it paints the volcanos in the east it truly magical

The tour was good - The tour and the staff were nice, but on the way back I was dropped off at a place I didn't know and there was no Wi-Fi connection.I asked them to drop me off at the place I got on, but that didn't work either, so I ended up wandering around for 2 hours at night. It was 😥

Poor communication - I could not find the meeting place. The office worker said she sent directions, but all I had was an address. I found the main road, but not the building on 418A. One man Googled it for me and said it was 2 blocks away and pointed where it actually wasn't. I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off and was finally shown where it was. I found 418 D, then C, then finally brought to A, but to late. They left without me. The office worker insisted she sent directions and there were two blurred boxes which would not download. I thought they were advertisements. She said I should have called but I was already outlooking for it. It look 40 minutes to find it. She said I should have requested a pick hotel pickup. They had my hotel and never suggested it as an option. I would like a refund. J Cook
